About the position:

The 3D Animation PA is an energetic and enthusiastic artist with strong character animation skills in 3D animation. They are proficient in excel and at creating high calibre dramatic and action oriented character animation while at the same time meeting production deadlines. They are integral to the animation team and are enthusiastic at developing their skills.

Responsibilities and duties:

Consistently strives to break the conventional animation limitations of 3D animated television series and creates the highest possible quality of animation in this medium.
Works and excels in a team environment.
Works under the direction of the Animation Supervisor and Director

Qualifications and competencies:

Is a graduate of a recognized animation school.
Experience in 3D Television production is an asset.
Has a broad understanding of 3D character animation.
Has strong understanding of character acting principles.
Has solid knowledge of Softimage XSI is beneficial.
Demonstrates a strong understanding of motion, weight, emotion, acting and timing.
Consistently strives to improve their character animation skill sets.

Junior Sound Editor

About the Position:

The Junior Sound Editor works full-time, Monday through Friday, under the supervision of Nerd Corps Sound Supervisor.

Responsibilities and duties:

Import and convert Avid media, sync and edit dialogue, prepare for mix.
Dialogue edit and assess original production sound tracks for the clearest reading of dialogue and correct imperfections such as ‘clicks’, ‘pops’ of ‘lip smacks’.
Edit all foley and prepare for mix.
Convert audio recordings into digital formats for editing or archiving.
Assemble, operate and maintain technical equipment.
Set-up, test operating equipment, adjust microphones.
Monitoring working condition of all sound equipment and alert Sound Department Head of repairs that may be needed.
Ensure that all mix sessions are backed up and properly archived.
Coordinate with post production department to make sure final sound delivery deadlines are met.

Qualifications and experience:

At least one year of sound editing experience.
Pro-Tools knowledge A MUST
Good technical knowledge of sound recording equipment is essential.
Excellent hearing and a good sense of timing are required, along with patience and stamina for working long hours.
Attention to detail and good communication skills a must.
Must be computer literate and have a good working knowledge of sound recording, playback, editing and mixing equipment also experience in the various soundtrack delivery systems.
Strong understanding of post sound procedures, production and workflow.

Lighting Artist

About the position:

The lighting artist is an energetic and enthusiastic individual with strong lighting skills and experience in lighting for broadcast television or feature film production. The lighting artist excels at creating high-calibre dynamic and riveting lighting sequences while meeting production deadlines.

Responsibilities and duties:

Demonstrate a broad range of lighting abilities in a collaborative environment to conceptualize and create the overall look, attitude and style of the character and set lighting
Able to work within the lighting and rendering pipeline and capable of troubleshooting common rendering and lighting technical issues
Identify to the visual effects lead problems that could potentially arise with respect to timelines and delivery schedules
Make sure that all work done is accounted for and entered in the tracking system (SPARCX)
Balance the creative needs, technical resources and time available
Ensure the schedule is being followed and take a proactive approach with the director and/or visual effects lead to ensure lighting shots are always in progress
Follow the creative direction of the production as communicated by the visual effects lead
Work with the senior staff of the visual effects team to learn as much as possible about the methods and software used when lighting

Qualifications and competencies:

2-3 years of previous lighting production experience for episodic TV or feature film
Demonstrates solid understanding of principles of lighting
Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the areas of rendering, lighting, shading and compositing
Works well within the team
Able to take directions and work independently
Able to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
Able to multi-task and prioritize
Skilled at improvising and problem solving
Thrives in a high pressure, deadline oriented environment
Enjoys working in a team atmosphere
Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience an asset
