About the position

As the hair and fur modeller you create simulated hair and fur on characters as needed.
Responsibilities

Create simulated hair and fur on character Apply rigs and controls on hair system for animation Troubleshoot and fix hair collision problems with models that have been identified by the animation team Render images of the models you create for approval/circulation Report problems with software/hardware Complete all work assigned within the scheduled timeframe and in an efficient manner Ensure the modelling team is productive by answering questions that arise Train and mentor new modellers who are placed on the crew and explain production methods Assist/guide modellers in the organization of their assignments Be aware of what is happening on the team at all times and identify problems to the supervisor Remain current in modelling and production techniques Stay up-to-date on production-related software Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner

Qualifications

Experience working as a hair or fur technical modeller on television or game production Advanced knowledge of XSI hair system setup Degree/diploma in fine arts or 3D modelling Proficient in modelling and weighting in XSI Knowledge of facial shape animation Basic knowledge of Photoshop or other high-end 2D painting programs Working knowledge of the Windows operating system Good understanding of the animation process Knowledge of scripting is an asset, but not necessary Work well in a team environment Thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment Able to follow direction Able to take criticism professionally Have a good sense of aesthetics THANK YOU to all those who express interest in being a part of the Nerd Corps team. About the position

As a VFX artist you create high-calibre dynamic and riveting visual effects while at the same time meeting production deadlines.You follow the creative direction of the production from an effects standpoint and report regularly to the VFX supervisor informing them of any concerns or new developments.

Responsibilities

Construct creative solutions for recurring visual effects in TV production Be aware of what is happening on the team at all times and identify problems to the VFX lead Train and mentor new effects animators and compositors who are placed on the crew and explain production methods Create complex effects sequences as assigned by the lead/director Identify to the VFX lead problems that could potentially affect timelines and delivery schedules Respect and adapt to the Nerd Corps system of data storage and retrieval through the use of the in-house software Balance your creative needs and technical resources available Ensure that all production deadlines are met while providing work at a quality level in keeping with production requirements. Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner Create and deliver effects for the series in a timely manner Train the junior staff and make sure they are using the proper methods Create and deliver show specific effects in a timely manner

Qualifications

Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience an asset Able to multitask and prioritize Intermediate understanding of 3D texturing, modeling and lighting Advanced understanding of compositing. Advanced knowledge of XSI Advanced knowledge of particle systems Creative with timing and colour Work well in a team atmosphere Able to take directions and work independently Very good at improvising and problem solving Good at being able to predict upcoming problems with production and communicating those concerns to the VFX lead Good communication skills Thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment Experience as an effects animator or equivalent THANK YOU to all those who express interest in being a part of the Nerd Corps team.
