Pre-Visualization Artist – Siggraph 2015 Attendee

Description

A Pre-Visualization Artist to create sequences of shots that convey the story through the application of traditional filmmaking principles in a 3D computer graphics environment.

Required Skills

Establish character blocking, camera positioning and animate camera movement.
Create an animatic interpretation of the story reel.
Ensure that the vision of the Director and Art Director are incorporated.
Work with existing storyboards, recreate and/or enhance story through cinematic layout of shots.
May create rough pre-visualization models and environments to facilitate animatic work.
Collaborate with the Editorial department to incorporate animatic work into the production reel.
Help guide the pre-visualization and layout work flow, tool and pipeline development with input and testing.
Pre-visualize the look of the film – characters, locations, effects, look – in collaboration with the Art Department.
Pre-visualize and layout sequences of shots that convey the story based on storyboards, story reel and/or script pages.
Model, surface and rig pre-visualization and layout models, characters, environments, and effects.
Optimize assets and scenes for real time interactive playback.
Plan and prepare motion capture and camera capture sessions.
Active participant at virtual shoots capturing motion capture data.
Active participant at camera capture session capturing camera motion.
Work in pre-visualization and layout on lighting, effects, rough character animation/blocking, camera motion, and rough editing.
Motion edit motion capture and keyframe animation of characters.
Collaborate with the Editorial department to incorporate material into the production reel.
Deliver shot data to Final Layout Department that meet the need of production.
Communicate with Production Designer and Art Director to incorporate stylistic choices for the film where possible.
Communicate with downstream departments to find solutions that facilitate the production process.

Required Experience

3 years of computer graphics pre-visualization production experience
Experience with motion capture based pre-visualization work flow
Expertise in Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Motion Builder, Adobe Photoshop
Expertise with editing software
Moderate to advance modeling, surfacing and rigging skills
Moderate to advance skills in effects animation
Film background or education a plus

Pipeline UX Designer

Description

DreamWorks Animation is looking for a talented, proactive, and self-directed UX designer that can straddle the gap between concepts and code, to help us develop the next generation of Studio Production tools.
The ideal candidate must have a clear understanding of user-centered design process, be able to execute against it and have demonstrated ability to effectively partner with product planners and managers, program managers and development, to shepherd end to end experiences from concept to release. You are a great creator, collaborator, communicator and can defend and build consensus around your designs.
The UX Designer will rapidly produce prototypes from initial concepts, scenarios, wireframes, task maps, design briefs, engineering specifications, sketch, create visual language guidelines, motion studies, and other artifacts required to develop and evolve user experience designs. You will work (primarily) with developers and program managers to ensure the visual design enhances the overall user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Gathering input from stakeholders and using your extensive user experience design knowledge and industry experience to help shape project requirements and scope
Coordinate with engineering management to help scope out and schedule development tasks
Creating user-flows, artwork, presentations, etc. to help communicate design approach and concepts and help gain alignment across project team members
Developing annotated low- to medium-resolution wireframes, ensuring you offer multiple design options to help elicit meaningful feedback from end users and engineers
Flesh out your designs and refine interactions programmatically or through collaboration with project engineers
Creating highly detailed design specifications that can be handed off to engineers for implementation
Revising and updating designs and documentation based on continuing user testing and feedback
Driving best practices with an eye toward standardization and simplification of user workflows

Required Skills

3+ years related UX design experience in product, company or agency.
BA/BS in design, computer science, or a related field, with significant industry experience.
MA/MS in interface, graphic, information design a plus but not required.
Knowledge in related industries (e.g. Computer Animation, Gaming, Visual Effects)
Software programming experience is a plus (e.g. Python, HTML, CSS, QT, and JavaScript)
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Experience designing for creative and collaborative workflows
Experience in information architecture, user research, and creating design specifications
Experience creating flow charts, wireframes, and mockups
Fluent in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop, Sketch, and/or other design applications

Sr. Systems Administrator – ESA

Description

Engineering System Administration (ESA) is responsible for developing and maintaining the worldwide infrastructure for the entire Dreamworks company. This position is with the Enterprise Systems and Services (ESS) group, which is directly responsiblefor operating systems (desktop, server, and render farm), compute resources, virtualization, tools and application integration with back-end directory services, and other traditional System Administration processes (excluding Networking, Storage andDatacenter Operations).
ESA/ESS is looking for an individual who is not only technically versed, self-directed, and able to work well as part of a team, but fits in with our creatively technical culture.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Quickly and efficiently troubleshoot both simple and complex issues (working with internal developers as well as external vendors), recommend solutions and/or alternatives, and perform or coordinate resolution.
Ensure all necessary operational processes and procedures are carried out with a high level of attention to detail, expediency and on-time delivery. Identify areas for process/efficiency improvements, and assist in overseeing implementation.
Create and maintain system information, diagrams and detailed documentation.
Installation of tools and other solutions for new needs, integrating it with existing systems and tools and presenting to the larger group as part of cross-training.
Monitor various systems capacity and provideanalytics & forecasts for added or reduced capacity as required.

Image Finaling Artist

Description

DreamWorks Animation is seeking an Image Finaling Artist.

Required Skills

Image Finaling Artists “polish” each shot as it leaves the lighting department. As an Image Finaling artist, you will be required to digitally alter frames using compositing techniques in Nuke. Artists also diagnose rendering issues with Nuke scripts that were created by other artists. They review each frame to ensure that there are no issues or problems. All Image Finaling artists take feedback from supervisors and artistic leads to correct or enhance footage. Image Finaling artists also address stereoscopic discrepancies which cannot be fixed by other departments. Photoshop is also used frequently by the artists to fix and enhance large resolution still images for use in commercial products and posters.

Required Experience

– Must be proficient with the latest versions of Nuke and Photoshop.
– Must be comfortable with exploring large Nuke scripts to troubleshoot and fix issues.
– Ability to track patches, rotoscope, digitally paint, color correct, and diagnose rendering issues in Nuke.
– Strong understanding of compositing.
– A minimum of one year work experience in a production environment.
– BA or equivalent experience
– Efficient and speedy work practices for quick turn-around time under deadline pressure.
– Please be highly motivated and passionate about your work and have a positive attitude.
