Job Description
Rainmaker is looking for a Creature TD to join in the excitement at our studio! We are looking for someone who is experienced, enthusiastic and all around fantastic! The Creature TD is responsible for evaluating the needs of the animation and simulation departments. He/She must assist in the development of a production ready process for creature rigging and simulation. And in order to meet the expectations of the animation and simulation supervisors, the creation of effective controls for rigging and simulation is essential. PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Must have an in-depth of modeling, animation and character rigging and methodology. He/she must be able to create optimal tools that can facilitate the animator’s work.
Devises and innovates methods of working with skeletons, modeling geometry and weighting that meet the project’s creative objectives.
Collaborates with the animation team in the testing of characters and provides timely solutions to any technical of performance related issues.
Attends regular production and department meetings.
Develops and maintains leading-edge proprietary tools/plugins/scripts.
Completes assignments on schedule.
Supports and integrates the values of Rainmaker that being a commitment to innovation, creativity, professionalism and inspiration.
Interacts respectfully and professionally with colleagues, other staff members, partners and clients.
Additional duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Degree and/or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience is preferred.
Advanced degree in Computing Science, Mathematics, Physics or related disciplines is an asset.
DVD Production

2-3+ years of experience working in a professional environment within their discipline preferred however not required.
Feature Film Production

4-6+ years of experience working in a professional environment within their discipline.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Working knowledge of geometry creation, weighting and skeleton rigging.
Production knowledge of Maya, Python, MentalRay and MEL required.
Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux, procedural and object-oriented programming languages.
Ability to create script in Python allowing for automation of specific tasks.
Basic artistic skills; demonstrable ability to make creative and aesthetic judgment calls.
Basic knowledge of CG Feature Animation.
Ability to communicate and/or demonstrate ideas. Practices attentive and active listening. Incorporates feedback and direction received from the Lead, Supervisor and/or Director of Production Technology.
Open to and encourages feedback and new initiatives. Shares information and techniques with team members.
Adaptable to change, he/she can alter course of action quickly per production needs. Solid work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to work under pressure. Self-motivated and pro-active. Consistently strives to expand knowledge base.
Makes decisions in a timely manner. Accepts accountability for own actions.
Efficient and detail oriented.

Art Director

Job Description
With the rebirth of Mainframe as our television division, we are excited to announce we are crewing up for our first CG animated TV series! We really can’t say much about it now, just that we are thrilled to start building our future in television with this preschool series. For this project, the Art Director needs to be good technically for the construction and architecture, and still have enough flair to be able to make it a stylized reality. Are you up for that challenge? You will be working closely with the Director to deliver the art direction for the project and will be hands on in generating the designs from script. You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a professional capacity within the animation industry and are no stranger to the dynamic tempo of television production. This contract is for at least a year.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Works closely with Director to deliver the art direction for the project.
Able to generate designs from script, primarily to cartoons.
Able to generate a color palate which will guide the project’s lighting, mood and atmosphere.
Collaborates with (Director,) and CG Supervisor to deliver the quality and complexity standards for the project.
Collaborates with Department Supervisors to ensure all artwork consistently meets the project’s creative parameters and complexity level while adhering to its schedule and budget.
The Art Director is responsible for the project’s stylistic, color, texture and lighting consistency.
Interprets, implements, and facilitates notes and feedback from Production Executives, Director, and Producer in a timely and qualitatively acceptable way.
Partners with production team to prioritize completion of artwork pending production requirements.
Adheres to digital file management protocols.

Interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues, staff members and clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Degree and/or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience is required.

TV/DVD Production

4-6+ years of experience working in a professional environment within their discipline.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Highly imaginative, thinks out of the box.
Expertise in design, color and application.
Equally as versatile using a pencil as Photoshop and other similar software.
Ability to envision how 2D artwork can be effectively and efficiently translated into CG models.
Expertise in creating conceptual artwork in a wide spectrum of styles ranging from cartoony to realistic.
Extensive knowledge of modeling and animation.
Extremely knowledgeable about the production process from start to finish.
Proven abilities to guide the visual style of the project from the conceptual stage through production and post production.
Pipeline expertise a plus.
Outstanding problem solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multi task and delegate.
Adaptable to change, he/she can alter course of action quickly per production needs.
Highly motivated, pro-active, solution-minded, solid work ethic and positive attitude.
Excellent leadership skills inspiring the team to work as a cohesive unit and eager to put forth their best.
Ability to collaborate and facilitate feedback requested by executives.
Ability to liaison with production staff and artists and clearly communicate production process, plans and concepts and set clear expectations.
