Rainmaker is looking for Technical Artists to work on our TV series, ReBoot! ReBoot: The Guardian Code will once again push the creative boundaries of TV entertainment in a new CG/live-action series.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the guidance of the CG Supervisor and VP Creative Technology, the Technical Artist is responsible for helping bring the creative vision of the Director and Art Director to life. The Technical Artist works mid-way between art and programming, taking the art for the game that was produced by the art department, and translating it into the game engine so it usable by the World Builders, Layout Department, Animation and FX.
This work is critical as it allows the artwork to be easily integrated with other code elements. Plus it ensures that the original artistic vision can be achieved without exceeding the technical limits of the available program.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Work with the Art Director and Director to realize their vision using Unreal, without exceeding the technical limits of the program.
Provide tech support to artists, and in some instances, the entire team. The TA is typically the first line of defense in diagnosing a problem.
Explore and realize FX and help develop FX tools in Unreal in support of the pipeline, a feature, or to simply make the workflow of the FX Artist easier.
Explore and realize AI and help develop AI/Crowd tools in Unreal in support of the pipeline, a feature, or to simply make the workflow of the AI Artist easier.
Help develop Layout tools in Unreal in support of the pipeline, a feature, or to simply make the workflow of the Layout Artist easier.
Work with programming, design and art to develop tools in support of Unreal shows. In some cases, acting as a negotiator between disciplines to come up with a solution that all parties can live with.
Responsible for preparing and/or designing character systems like skeletons, cloths, effect emitters, and ragdoll collision.
Develop content creation guidelines and help enforce them through the use of tools and reminders when needed.
Optimize content for memory and performance gains.
Provide vision, feedback, motivation and encouragement to the team.
Help the CG Supervisor manage the workflow within the pipeline.
Work with the CG Supervisor to interpret and implement notes and feedback from the Art Director and Director in a timely and qualitatively acceptable way.
Adhere to digital file management protocols.
Support and integrate the values of Rainmaker, which include a commitment to innovation, creativity, professionalism and inspiration.
Interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues, staff members and clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Degree and/or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience is preferred.

DVD Production

4-6+years of experience working in the field of animation.

TV Production

2-4+ years of experience working in the field of animation.

Game Production

2-3+ years of experience working in game production.

Technical Artist Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Superior proficiency in using Maya, Unreal 4 and Shotgun is required.
Knowledge of animation production in relation to shot creation and storytelling.
Modeling and rigging experience preferred
Ability to collaborate and facilitate feedback requested by executives and/or clients.
Open to and encourages feedback and new initiatives. Shares information and techniques with team members.
Ability to liaise with production management to define and articulate production requirements.
Ability to predict potential problems and troubleshoot as necessary.
Highly motivated, pro-active, solutions-oriented, solid work ethic and positive attitude.
Makes decisions in a timely manner. Accepts accountability for own actions. Creatively solves problems, eliminates roadblocks and focuses on issue at hand.
Ability to quickly assimilate new information and adapt as needed.
