VFX Supervisor

Position Overview

The VFX Supervisor is required to supervise, monitor, direct and influence the wide-ranging creative aspects of high-end VFX production across multiple projects. Supplying creative direction, you will be directly responsible for driving success across entire VFX briefs, and you will have a strong understanding of all disciplines within the VFX pipeline.
You are an expert people manager, a natural team player and forward thinking professional. Layout Technical Directors

Rising Sun Pictures is currently looking for experienced Layout Technical Directors to join our Layout team.

Position Overview

The Layout Department is pivotal in supplying elements for use by all downstream departments. Layout TD’s share the same responsibilities as the Layout Artists, and also need to be proficient in setting up the most complex scenes with a broad variety of components such as projections, and asset compilations, while also creating custom solutions to challenging problems.
Contributing to the development of the specialist layout toolset and working closely with pipeline engineering, Layout TD’s assist in the development of workflow and production tools.

Your proven ability to construct compelling cinematography through digital set building will ensure your success. You value the relationship between all scene objects relative to the camera. To that end, you transition between the artistic & technical challenges with ease. You are mindful of optimising scene assets to ensure downstream render success.

Responsibilities

Create, manage, support and supervise key aspects of the effects pipeline in the following areas; effects simulation, and effects look development.
Create and deliver effects; including rigid body dynamics, fluid simulations, and generic particle effects, that match the creative and technical brief.

Applicants presenting highly realistic effects work in their portfolio, will be reviewed with priority. RSP is a Houdini based effects facility operating in a Linux system environment. As a Senior, all candidates must have extensive experience with Houdini and be comfortable working in Linux and using command line tools.

You are a professional artist who works collaboratively with your team and those working in other departments. You are an excellent time manager and forward thinker who delivers to schedule and to brief. Using Houdini, you have previously been responsible for creating wide ranging naturalistic effects simulation including destruction, water, and fire.

Your ability to own your delivery is highly regarded by your previous supervisors. As a professional effects artist and effects technical director, you provide confidence to the production team because you maintain absolute clarity in what is expected of you. Senior Creature TD

Rising Sun Pictures is currently seeking speculative applications for Senior Creature TD to join our growing team.

Employment Period: An immediate start, through to June 2018.
Location: Adelaide, Australia. This position will be open to Australian and international applicants. Visa and relocation assistance provided where applicable.

Position Overview

The successful applicant will be responsible for creating and maintaining animation rigs for characters, creatures, props and vehicles. You will also be required to implement proprietary tools to aid in the creation of rigs. As a Senior Creature TD you will work closely with Modellers and Animators to develop and refine rigs that meet specific creative and technical VFX requirements.
You will have previously designed, tested and deployed animation rigging toolsets for high end visual effects.

Responsibilities

Prototype, implement and refine fully scripted animation rigs according to production needs.
Troubleshoot and fix rig issues, collect artistic feedback and fine-tune rig behaviour.
Script utilities/tools/plug-ins in various software packages.
Maintain integrity and structure of the pipeline & workflow.
Meet delivery deadlines within production constraints.
Write & maintain departmental wiki pages, technical documentation.
Provide regular updates & present your work in progress to department and show supervisors, informing them of any issues that may affect progress, offering solutions as required.

Reporting directly to the Head of Look Development, Senior Look Development Artists will be required to quickly create photorealistic textures and shaders for a wide range of assets including props, characters and environments, for a number of live action projects. Applicants presenting photo realistic work will be reviewed with priority.

Your previously held positions are likely to have included texture artist, look development artist, 3d generalist etc. You have previously textured and shaded an extensive range of models from props, characters, urban and city environments through to complex terrain, all with great speed and accuracy.

Your excellent communication and collaboration skills are highly regarded by your previous supervisors. You provide confidence to production because you have absolute clarity in what is expected of you in terms of consistency and quality.

Responsibilities

Create and deliver textures and shaders that meet the artistic brief.

Position Overview

Reporting to Compositing Leads and the Head of Department, you will be responsible for creating multi-layered composites for live action feature films. Applicants presenting highly realistic, live-action composites (rather than stylised full-CG composites) in their portfolio, will have their application reviewed with priority. RSP is a Nuke based effects facility operating in a Linux system environment. All candidates must have extensive experience with Nuke and be comfortable working in Linux and using command line tools.

You are a professional artist who works collaboratively with your team and those working in other departments. You are an excellent time manager and forward thinker who delivers to schedule and to brief. You have previously been responsible for creating complex composites that incorporate naturalistic effects simulation, environments and matte painting and native live action elements.

Your ability to own your delivery is highly regarded by your previous supervisors. As a professional compositor, you continually provide confidence to your production team through regular updates. You maintain clarity and focus when crunch time hits and know what is expected of you. You maintain a good working relationship with artists that are delivering to you from other departments and are proactive in resolving issues that may delay deliveries.

Responsibilities

Create Nuke scrips that integrate efficiently into the compositing pipeline.
Work with your Lead to maintain and improve sound production workflows. Focus on reducing the time taken to complete repetitive or complex tasks.
Iterate your work as required by your Lead, Head of Department, or the 2D Supervisor. Expect additional delegated tasks by them. Adapt work according to the changing needs of a developing brief.
Work in a manner that allows other compositing team members to pick up your work if necessary.
Work within RSP’s colour pipeline, adhering to the colour workflow as outlined by the project.
Adapt your comp setups as the brief evolves, diagnosing and resolving any issues with your own Nuke script.

Work with lighting team members as necessary in order to meet compositing objectives.
