VFX Producer

RSP is currently searching for an established VFX Producer to join our production leadership team. We have a range of upcoming films that will suit mid to senior VFX Producers, with extensive live-action feature film experience. Position Overview

With a focus on quality, the VFX Producer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our visual effects award, ensuring the project is delivered on time and on budget. Successful applicants will work closely with the VFX Supervisor, Production leads and Heads of Department, defining show methodology and execution strategy.
You will be responsible for the overall management and successful completion of wide ranging production activities, required for the delivery of photorealistic visual effects. You are an established leader, respected by industry peers and colleagues. An excellent communicator and problem solver, you are a strong negotiator who excels in project and time management. Ever cognisant of the project strategy and methodology, you maintain the control required to deliver excellent product in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

Bid work with the Sales team and supervisors, maintaining change orders as scope varies.
Define the overall project scope and execution strategy with the VFX Supervisor.
Work with client and company to resolve any impasse which threatens to delay or impede project commitments or milestones.
Provide risk assessment on new opportunities assessing resources, viability and impact to existing schedules and employees.
Work with various Heads of Department and show supervisors to ensure briefs are clear and well defined.
Create regular and accurate project reports, detailing the project’s financial and creative status to client and management.
Own the overall client communication, adding value to the relationship, providing surety on all aspects of the project and adjusting your own style as needed.
In concert with Production Management, produce and maintain show schedules, ensuring the delivery roadmap is clear, making adjustment as the project evolves.
Create mitigation strategies to reduce the risk, impact, severity and/or probability of an occurrence.
Manage and mentor peers and members of the production team, cultivating an environment of professionalism where people are engaged, effective and clear on expectation.

Required skills and experience

3 to 7+ years VFX Producer experience.
Proven strategic and scheduling experience across all areas of visual effects.
Clear and methodical planning and communication with artists, supervisors and clients.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to operate with a high degree of professionalism and control in a pressurised, time-sensitive working environment.
Excellent knowledge of Shotgun.
Clear understanding of all aspects of the VFX workflow.
Preferably experienced in a facility working with a departmental structure.
Knowledge of Fast Track and other scheduling tools preferred.
Strong knowledge of MS Office.

Although RSP runs a Houdini / Mantra / Arnold pipeline, applicants with broad exposure to any industry standard 3d packages and renderers should apply for this position.

You are a professional artist who works collaboratively with your team and those working in other departments. You are an excellent time manager and forward thinker who delivers to schedule and to brief. You have previously lit and rendered wide ranging assets generated by Houdini effects artists, modelers, texture artists and animators.
Your ability to own your work is highly regarded by your previous employers. As a professional lighting artist, you provide confidence to production because you have absolute clarity in what is expected of you in terms of lighting consistency and shot delivery.

Responsibilities

Using Houdini and SolidAngle’s Arnold, light and render a variety of small and large scale cg elements including props, models, environments, crowds, creatures and effects.
Provide solutions for techniques such as subsurface scattering and physically plausible shading.
Use HDRI information to match live action lighting elements.
Step into a lead position and lead other lighting artists and/or sequences as required.
Strong emphasis on optimising and troubleshooting renders, providing feedback to departments upstream and render wranglers.
Work closely with compositors ensuring the renders you provide are consistent with their expectation.
Follow creative & technical briefs with regard to the production schedule.
Take ownerships of all notes and feedback relating to your shots.
Iterate your work as directed by your lead and within the allocated resources.

You possess a technical understanding of physical camera attributes and the spatial relationship between large number of physical and digital assets.

Responsibilities

Provide digital camera creation and augmentation / wholly digital camera realisation.

Provide environment, set dressing, scene layout, shot design and animation.
Through post visualisation and layout, fully block scenes to supervisor and client requirements, providing QA of your work at all times.

Reporting directly to the Head of Effects, you will be responsible for creating wide ranging natural phenomena for a variety of live action feature films. Applicants presenting highly realistic effects work in their portfolio, will be reviewed with priority. RSP is a Houdini based effects facility operating in a Linux system environment. As a Senior, all candidates must have extensive experience with Houdini and be comfortable working in Linux and using command line tools.

You are a professional artist who works collaboratively with your team and those working in other departments. You are an excellent time manager and forward thinker who delivers to schedule and to brief. Using Houdini, you have previously been responsible for creating wide ranging naturalistic effects simulation including destruction, water, and fire.
Your ability to own your delivery is highly regarded by your previous supervisors. As a professional effects artist and effects technical director, you provide confidence to the production team because you maintain absolute clarity in what is expected of you. You are the artist who seeks to understand and subsequently nail the brief.

Responsibilities

Create and deliver effects; including effects simulation, and effects look development, that match the creative and technical brief.
Tightly adhere to production schedule and deliver to key milestones, presenting your work-in-progress daily.
Work with animation, lighting & compositing as necessary in order to meet FX animation objectives.
Adapt your effects as the brief evolves.
Diagnose and resolve issues with your own Houdini and Python scripts.

Rigger

Position Overview

Working within RSP’s creature pipeline and using established rigging tools, the successful applicant will be required to create rigs for organic and hard surface models, including biped and quadruped creatures. Your previous experience creating straightforward, intuitive rigs for live action work allows animators to create realistic movement and performance.

As a Creature TD / Rigger, while you will likely be familiar with a variety of rigging pipeline and tools, we expect you to add value to our pipeline, and not reinvent the wheel.
Demonstrated experience with Maya is a fundamental pre-requisite for the successful applicant.
The strength of your creative eye, excellent communication & collaboration, together with strong technical and programming background is essential.

Responsibilities

Work closely with modellers and animators to define the purpose and use of the rig.
Ensure rigging controls are fully adjustable as per feedback, being mindful of model parameters and limitations.
Ability to deliver dynamic character solutions for a full range of CG shots plus live action footage augmentation & transitions.
Create adjustable, anatomically correct human and facial rigs with intuitive animation controls, to tight delivery and quality standards.

Your previously held positions are likely to have included texture artist, look development artist, surface artist etc. You have previously textured and shaded an extensive range of models from props, characters, urban and city environments through to complex terrain, all with great speed and accuracy.

Responsibilities

Create and deliver textures and shaders that meet the artistic brief.

Modelers

The RSP modelling team is looking for talented Modellers of all levels to join our growing team for photo-realistic feature film work.

Employment period: February start, through to mid 2018.
Location: Adelaide, Australia. These positions are open to Australian and international applicants. Visa and relocation assistance provided where applicable.

Position Overview

Successful candidates will have a demo reel that demonstrates both a solid artistic eye for detail, and a sound technical ability of all disciplines required to create amazing assets for feature film. This includes examples of clean high quality production ready models, ideally of photo real objects with wireframe examples. You should be able to organise yourself and deliver hardsurface models, large scale environments, digital doubles, vehicles and props. You will also have a good understading of current industry workflow and techniques including a good understanding of uv space and udims.

Experience or knowledge of Houdini procedural modelling a plus, but not essential. Python coding is also a plus. You should have a good understanding of up and down stream department needs and how your work will contribute to the finished shot.

Responsibilities

Create and deliver models that meet each creative and technical brief.
Create uv’s for all your assets that meet the standard of the Look Development and Texture department.
Work with other departmenst such as Rigging, Look Development and Effects independantly as required.
Re-topologise lidar scans and or hi-res models provided by other vendors if required.

Houdini procedural modelling knowledge is a plus.
