Visual Effects Producer

We are currently seeking an established VFX Producer to join our supervisory and leadership team.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Executive Producer, the VFX Producer will work directly with RSP’s clients and in partnership with our internal VFX Supervisory and production team. In this role, you will be required to deliver, monitor, direct and influence wide-ranging aspects of high-end VFX production, across multiple projects.
You are an expert manager, negotiator and influencer. You represent company values with integrity and honesty, delivering results that often outstrip client expectation. With a deep foundation in practical film making and feature film visual effects, you are the Producer who leads from the front, picks the team up in low patches and recognises achievement.

Responsibilities

Ensure the work created by RSP is of the highest professional visual standard and in-line with client & budgetary expectations.
Establish and develop professional relationships with major studio executives, VFX producers, supervisors and other industry leaders.
Work with RSP’s sales & bidding team to win contracts, ensuring successful handover of awards to the production team.
Attend external client meetings, script run-throughs and pre-production meetings as necessary.
Manage the client’s expectations and conflicts to create positive outcomes on behalf of the client and company.
On a daily basis, create client reports that track each shows performance.
Regularly meet with the production accountant to advise of changes that may affect cash-flow, profitability and resourcing.
Looking ahead to upcoming show requirements, meet with key facility department heads to advise of resource requirements.
On a weekly basis, create internal reports that track each shows performance.
Through regular communication with the internal supervisory team, maintain an ongoing awareness of the state of assets and shots in the projects, maintaining an ongoing view of project health.
Manage your own priorities independently of personal assistants.
Regularly provide direct feedback to your team.
Attend regular production and team meetings.
Mentor and actively develop junior production crew members and those under your direct sphere of influence.
Promote a collaborative and enjoyable workplace influencing morale, discussion and work ethic.

Required skills and experience

Minimum 8 years of senior VFX Producing experience in successive client-side &/or vendor-side positions.
Deep understanding of end-to-end production methodology from script through to delivery.
Strong eye for detail with real world sensibilities of naturalistic visual effects and phenomenon.
Solid knowledge of financial budgeting and the required software skills. Excellent knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
Sound knowledge of Shotgun, Filemaker or similar database software and scheduling software.

This position is directly responsible for ensuring disciplines of modeling, texturing and rigging create quality digital assets for high-end feature film. RSP is a Maya, Houdini and Nuke based software effects facility. Demonstrated strength with each software is a significant criteria for applicants.

This position is directly responsible for ensuring disciplines of modeling, texturing, matte painting & rigging can create realistic environment assets for high-end feature film. RSP’s environment team use a suite of tools including Photoshop, Houdini, Nuke, ZBrush, Maya & 3DEqualizer. Demonstrated experience with each software is a fundamental pre-requisite for successful applicants.

Collaborate with the art director and VFX supervisor to conceptualise assets.
Ensure assets are created in-line with the creative brief and supportive of render optimisation and reuse.
In collaboration with the pipeline group, compositing, lighting and modelling, drive and prioritise environment pipeline and work flow improvements ensuring seamless handover between departments.
Match Lidar and on-set photographic references to create integrated environments.
Work with the compositing leads to secure coverage maps to assist in determining matte painting requirements.
Provide lighting teams with QA’d assets that can be successfully lit and rendered.
Work closely with production on delivery schedules, timeliness and quality standards.
Review and approve all work for internal and external delivery, ensuring it hits creative and technical notes.
Set discipline and quality assurance standards by regularly providing feedback to your team on the improvement of assets created.
Ensure matte painting and modeling leads are effectively running their own teams, providing guidance and advice on resolving issues as they arise.

You possess a deep understanding of physical camera attributes and the spatial relationship between large number of physical and digital assets. Your experience covers the creation and augmentation of complex digital camera moves, through to layout, tracking & matchmoving.

Responsibilities

Create, manage, support and supervise key aspects of the layout & camera pipeline in the following areas:

On set camera tracking, survey, data acquisition [including LIDAR]
Environment and scene layout and animation
Digital camera creation and augmentation / Wholly digital camera realisation [Mono / Stereo]
Mono & stereo cameratracking
Organic matchmoves requiring rigging, modelling and animation.
Through post visualisation and layout, fully block scenes to supervisor and client requirements.
Deliver Digi Double match moves for full CG augmentation.
Solve complex technical issues, prototyping for team roll-out as necessary.
Reproduce exact virtual camera data.
Work with riggers to articulate matchmove & asset requirements.
Work closely with team leads and supervisors to determine downstream delivery requirements.
Working with the production management team, create technical solutions to ensure deadlines are met in accordance of resource parameters.
In collaboration with the pipeline group, drive and prioritise requirements for pipeline development and work flow enhancement.
Provide clear briefs and daily feedback to your team.
Run team dailies and set one-on-one meetings.
Review and QA team’s work ahead of internal and external delivery, ensuring it meets creative and technical notes. Immediately address ineffective delivery.
Actively mentor and develop all team members under your supervision.
Collaborate with 3rd party VFX vendors as required to package or receive shared assets.

Required skills and experience

Minimum 7 years senior Camera department experience, including at least 5 years in artistic and technical director positions such as tracker, matchmover, previsualisation and layout.

Expert user of production ready software including 3DEqualizer, PFTrack, and SynthEyes; in a Linux system environment.
Working knowledge of Nuke advantageous
Ability to quickly identify plate features suitable for tracking.

Complete understanding of lens calibration, camera orientation & projection, focal length and lens distortion.
