Lighting Artist

Full-Time

This position has a large impact on multiple departments and drastically affects the look and feel of the game.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain all elements of lighting i.e. dynamic, prebaked, interior and exterior setups, cinematic set, and character lighting.
Ensure that all lighting deliverables are completed fully and in line with production schedule.
Maintain a balance between visual quality and performance requirements for real time game application.
Keep artistic style consistent with defined visual style for the game.
Work with design to make sure lighting accentuates missions, objectives and game flow.
Participate in R&D of new techniques to implement into production pipeline.

Qualifications

Sound knowledge and use of lighting techniques in the video game or VFX industries.
Expert level proficiency within 3DS Max, Photoshop, and other 3rd party software or tools used in the production of environment and character lighting.
Should have good compositional and all-around artistic skill and flare.
Strong technical background with ability to grasp new programs and systems quickly.
Ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation.
Able to prioritize and multi-task.
Game experience preferred.

Senior Environment Artist

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for creating a very high quality of environment art.
Working as a senior you will benchmark and raise the bar for environment art throughout our products.
Should be able to mentor and work well with others within the team.
Work closely with Programmers to ensure polygon counts and texture sizes are fully optimized for target platforms while minimizing any impact on artistic integrity of assets.
Participate in R&D of new techniques to implement into production pipeline.
Proactively seek feedback from Lead Artist, and Creative Directors.
Ensure that artistic style is consistent with defined visual style for the game.

Qualifications

5+ years of post-secondary educational experience in 2D and 3D art production.
Proven track record in at least 2 shipped titles (preferably AAA).
Superior 2D and 3D art skills.
Possess an in-depth knowledge of cutting edge shader techniques.
Excellent compositional skills and all-around artistic expertise and flare.
Eagerness to learn new software tools and technologies.
Ability to work in a team setting, under deadlines and time constraints.
Expertise in 3ds Max, Photoshop, or other technologies utilized in the production of game art.
Strong technical background with ability to grasp new programs and systems quickly.
Ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation.

Lead VFX Artist

Responsibilities

Experienced at creating a wide range of high quality particle effects using proprietary particle tools and various 3rd party software.
Interacting closely with rendering programmers and technical art to maintain and improve our proprietary effect system and tools.
Ability to collaborate effectively with other team disciplines (code, design, animation).
Can demonstrate creativity and technical ability within the constraints of console development.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Effective time and team management skills to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
Drive our particle rendering and authoring technology forward to meet the requirements of next-gen hardware.
Mentoring our team of VFX artists for their continual improvement.

Qualifications

Industry experience, having shipped title/s demonstrating VFX quality (PS3, 360, PC).
Experience with next-gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One) is a strong plus.
Experience in the game industry on a AAA game.
The ability to view visual reference of an effect, deconstruct it and subsequently re-create it in a real-time game engine is essential.
Strong knowledge of environmental effects, lighting, and dynamics.
5+ years of professional experience as an effect artist.
2+ years of experience in a senior or lead role.

Skills

Experience using real-time particle tools.
Experience with Houdini (or similar).
Experience with 3D studio Max and Photoshop.

Animation Technical Artist

Rockstar North are looking for an Animation Technical Artist (Motionbuilder specialist) for our current and next generation console game development. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years using Motionbuilder in the video games industry from a technical standpoint. A strong working knowledge of using Python in Motionbuilder is vital.

Responsibilities

Experienced at creating a wide range of high quality animation friendly rigs in Motionbuilder while working closely with our riggers and animators.
Interacting closely with animators and technical artists to maintain and improve our proprietary animation and asset setup tools.

Ability to collaborate effectively with other team disciplines, predominantly animation and animation code.
Bring innovation and resolution to technical problems and challenges throughout production.
Can demonstrate creativity and technical ability within the constraints of console development.
Assist character artist with skinning and rigging of characters, including setups for facial animation.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Effective time management skills to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
Mentoring other technical artists to help improve their Motionbuilder skills.

Qualifications

Experience using Motionbuilder as a technical artist setting up rigs is vital.
Relevant experience using 3ds max in a technical art role setting up rigs is desirable.
Python programming is a prerequisite for the role.
Experience in other scripting and programming languages (Maxscript, Mel, C# / C++, etc.) is a big plus.
Industry experience is a requirement, having shipped title(s) on PS3, 360, PC.
Knowledge of facial rigging is a definite plus.
3+ years of applicable professional experience as an animation technical artist.
Relevant games development experience, preferably on a AAA game.
