Character Skinning and Pipeline Artist

Rockstar North is looking for a Character Skinning and Pipeline Artist to work with us to create the next generation of characters.
In this role you will provide support throughout the character production process working closely with artists in the character team; using our tools and rigs to skin character bodies and faces, and taking them through the full export pipeline.
A reel/portfolio demonstrating exceptional 3DStudio Max based skinning skills is a prerequisite. Additional skills in secondary areas such as character art/modelling are prized, and knowledge of rig creation and character topology as it relates to animation is also a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Use predefined character rigs and tools to effectively skin both bodies and faces on character assets.
Help setup shaders and other complex character data alongside the artists
Work with the team to create balanced solutions to all related technical and aesthetic issues.
Work with other technical artists and tools developers in the continual improvement of processes.

REQUIREMENTS

Positive, solution-oriented individual with a passion for game development.
A demo reel which demonstrates exceptional skill in skinning human figure game assets for animation, both body and faces.
Understanding of human body and facial anatomy as it relates to game assets and topology.
Excellent understanding of development workflows as they relate to getting character assets into game engines.
Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a self-directed manner and to make timely, well-thought out decisions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Art or from a competitive program is preferred.
Additional skills such as current game character art creation/modelling, rig creation are a plus.
The ideal candidate will have shipped one title on last or current generation of consoles.
Advanced knowledge in 3D Studio Max is preferred; Maya users or equivalent 3D program will also be considered.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work closely in a team setting with other departments.

PREFERRED

Production experience with both last-gen, current-gen consoles, and PC platforms.
Experience with Motionbuilder is a plus.

Superior 3D art skills.
Eagerness to learn new software tools and technologies.

Ensure that artistic style is consistent with defined visual style for the game.

QUALIFICATIONS

Should be proficient at modelling natural landscapes of varying terrain.

Interior Artist

Rockstar Games is looking for an Interior Artist to grow our Interior Team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical 3D environment skills and the architectural/design knowledge to be able to benchmark interiors with finesse. The successful candidate will bring cohesion to the process of generating interiors – making sure everything from the architectural details, props, set dressing, and lighting embody the concepts and art direction of the underlying game.
