SENIOR MATTE PAINTER/ENVIRONMENT

Rodeo FX is looking for a talented senior Matte Painter/Environment Artist with a minimum of 5 Years of experience in the film industry. The matte painter will be responsible for creating photo realistic and very stylized backgrounds in 2D or 3D space. A portfolio showcasing strong 2D and 3D skills in achieving photorealistic images is a must.

Responsibilities and requirements:
Use animation software (XSI preferred) and painting skills to create hyper-realistic and stylized backgrounds and environments.
Combine skills in Photoshop and XSI, particularly in modeling, texturing, lighting camera projection techniques to generate 2D or 3D digital environments.
Organize and manage his work to be able to function in a vfx production pipeline.
To be able to receive comments and criticisms and communicate well with members of his team.
Previous experience as a matte painter in a VFX house and/or CG animation house in films.
Skills in design & photography.
Extensive knowledge of matte painting techniques; knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling, rendering in 3D software, lighting, motion, etc.
Advanced knowledge of XSI and Photoshop. Experience with compositing principles is a big plus.

VFX COORDINATOR

Rodeo FX is looking for VFX coordinator with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the film industry. This person must have very strong organizational skills and being able to communicate well.

Responsibilities and requirements:
Maintain show shot list. Determine, with the Producer, what documents are needed for a specific show.
Maintain shot statuses and artist targets and be able to produce show status at all time.
Take, receive and disseminate internal and client shot notes.
Manage flow of information and transfer of information/work between departments.
Make sure that artists have necessary information and elements to begin work efficiently.
Set and track targets for the week with VFX supervisor and producer. Make sure artists are clear on their targets.
Keep a pulse on artist workload – flag Producer and Supervisor if artists have too much or too little work. Anticipate and raise any concerns about targets, deadlines, etc. based on daily artist activity
Arrange, attend, and manage meetings, turnovers, reviews with VFX Supervisor and artists, make sure that meetings are efficient and on schedule.
Organize dailies, and take notes.
Keep artists and supervisors up to date with information – client notes, shot changes, modifications – and evaluate impact on current work. Relay information to producer if anticipated budget or schedule implications.
Evaluate and validate materials with VFX supervisors to make sure they are approved. Ensure information is distributed to relevant crew.

The ideal candidate:
Post-secondary education in film production or related field.
3 to 5 years of experience working in a VFX studio
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be a team player, but able to work independently as well.
Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and to manage conflicting interests and a strong attention for detail.
Self-motivated, proactive, being able to work well in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Availability to work flexible hours on occasion to meet deadlines.

PROJECT MANAGER

Rodeo FX is looking for an experienced Project Manager with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the VFX film industry. This person must have leadership, attention to details and very strong organizational and communication skills. The project manager is assigned to a specific show and works with the VFX Producer, the VFX Coordinator(s) and the Supervisor(s) to ensure that the overall production schedule and budget requirements are achieved.

Responsibilities and requirements:
Works with producer to ensure that project scheduling and budget requirements are met in every department involve.
Schedule milestones and plan ahead to ensure that weekly deliverables and milestones will be met.
Make plan with department Heads, Producers and Coordinators to resolve any production issues, and manage any related impact on schedule and overtime.
Work with Department Heads and Supervisors to distribute tasks and fix deadlines to artists, ensuring that assignments are varied for optimum performance and are distributed according to individual abilities and pipeline steps.
Create and maintain reports that clearly illustrate department and individual artist productivity, ensuring that data provided is accurate and valid, following company-established methodology.
Perform frequent walk-around to check in with crew and production staff, and ensure resolution of any issues that arise by communicating with Producers and Supervisors.
Collaborate with Department Heads and production staff to ensure that the complexity of work is consistent with critical assumptions and is falling within department budgets and schedules, and flag issues as suitable.
Evaluate workload to ensure that the delivery schedule is realistic and plan accordingly.
Anticipate potential production problems and take the leading role in finding solutions.
Participate in client approval meetings to make sure that they are running in accordance with studio’s procedures.
Supervise the work of VFX Coordinators and Production Assistants.
Take part in weekly production meeting to represent your project.
Create reports to show progress on your show and flag potential issues that may arise.
Perform any kind of administrative tasks related to a project if necessary.
Verify artist’s time logs and is responsible for OT approval for his project.

Requirements:
3 to 5 years of production experience, preferably in visual effects for film (experience on at least 5 full feature movies required).
Post-secondary education in film production or related field.
Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Shotgun.
