Compositing Supervisor – ScanlineVFX (Vancouver)

COMPOSITING SUPERVISOR

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Works directly with the VFX Supervisor to determine and advise technical solutions; Directs and supervises 2D artists in the completion of final shots.
· Insure the quality of compositing work is of the highest standards
· Advises production department on compositor assignments and scheduling.
· Collaborates with other department managers on dailies, workflow and pipeline strategies, processes and methodology.
· Responsible for compositing templates and standards, 2D department workflow, organization, and general methodology, shot continuity, grain continuity, and 2D department quality control.
· Will be expected to spot check individual comps of other artists and evaluate quality and efficiency of teams work
· Mentor compositing team
· May also fill the role of Lead Compositor
· Assesses client plates for technical quality issues
· Prior to submission to client, reviews shots for artifacts relating to compositing or color space issues.
· Serves as key technical expert on productions

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· At least 6 years live action visual effects compositing experience, on high profile features
· Possess extremely strong technical and leadership capabilities
· Solid experience in leading and training teams of compositors
· Excellent artistic skills
· Demonstrate the ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
· Has full working knowledge of the technical and artistic aspects of live action and visual effects compositing
· Expert knowledge of Nuke required as well as integration of 3D elements into plates
· Shake, After Effects, Digital Fusion all a big plus
· Experience in 3dsMax a plus
· Should be able to balance artistic, technical, and scheduling demands
· Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask
· Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines

I/O Coordinator – ScanlineVFX (Vancouver)

The I/O Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of data and digital asset management as it is processed and as it comes in and goes out of the studio. Communicates status updates to ensure the delivery of data/media on schedule and within our security and procedural protocols. Provides support to the production management team and supervisors.

Responsibilities Include:

•Responsible for monitoring disk servers, performing backups/restores, and handling incoming/outgoing data transfers.
• Maintains data and asset tracking.
• Prepare incoming/outgoing data transfers.
• Ingest files from clients and vendors and prepare deliveries back to them.
• Monitor studio queue system
• Troubleshoot and correct failing tasks.
• Partners with other production personnel to ensure shots are scheduled and delivered in a timely manner.
• Coordinates all client deliveries (outgoing and incoming), both physical deliveries and digital deliveries and maintains log of all deliveries.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Accredited degree preferred in production or IT related field is preferred.
• 2 years proven production experience in established VFX facility.
• Fundamental systems administration skills and general technical troubleshooting experience.
• FTP Management.
• Experience working with relational databases.
• Experience with heavy schedule management in a very time sensitive atmosphere.
• Must be diligent, resourceful, meticulous and able to thrive under pressure.
• Thorough understanding of CG/VFX production pipelines, software packages and postproduction is helpful.
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail coupled with exceptional people skills and the ability to work within a team environment.
• Strong project management skills and a sensitivity towards deadline related deliveries.
• Must be able to handle multiple changing priorities in a dynamic environment and understand how this impacts departmental schedules.
• Able to communicate effectively across multiple teams with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to work very flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, nights, or when production schedule requires.
• Proficient computer skills are required; with particular emphasis on Production Tracking Software and Asset Management

Modeling Supervisor – ScanlineVFX (Vancouver)

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Execute poly modeling, brush sculpting, and detail high resolution digital doubles with costume for feature film projects; service and maintain geometry
· Use technical know-how, artistic aptitude and knowledge of animation to create models that meet quality standards set by the studio and our feature film clients
· Work with production team to make sure each model is designed and developed to project specifications and is performance ready

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· CG experience constructing polygon character models and UV mapping skills
· Experience in creating blend shapes and a familiarity with character rigging
· Expertise in organic poly modeling using Maya, Max, etc.
· Expertise in brush sculpting and detailing using ZBrush or Mudbox
· Good sense of human anatomy and face sculpting
· Basic knowledge of shell scripting tools preferred
· Skill in drawing and sketching desirable
· Feature film experience strongly preferred
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask
· Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines.

HARD SURFACE and HUMAN CHARACTER MODELER

Digital Production Coordinator – ScanlineVFX (Vancouver)

DIGITAL PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

– Under the guidance of the Digital Producer or Digital Production Manager, schedules and tracks progress of tasks for assigned artists or sequences in the production tracking system.

– Follows up with artists on a daily basis to ensure task deliveries remain on schedule
– Communicates any schedule changes to appropriate artists, Supervisors and Production team as needed
– Experience with production tracking software: Shotgun, and asset management software a plus.
– Minimum 3 years visual effects production experience preferred
– Should have highly developed communication skills to facilitate interdepartmental needs
– Should have comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

VFX Producer – ScanlineVFX (Vancouver)

VFX Producer:

The VFX Producer reports to the President, Vice President and Executive Producer. He/she is responsible for constructing the overall show schedule, ensuring the Production Supervision staff is meeting the schedule, and watching over the day-to-day operations of the show within the facility. He/she is responsible for ensuring clear communication to the client and the production team, and that the production delivers on time and within the budget. Along with the VFX Supervisor, he/she is responsible for artistic cohesion with the client.

Responsibilities include:

· In tandem with the Digital Production Manager constructs the initial “broad-strokes” schedule of deliverable items and dates.
· Works with the supervisory team to assess the original scope of work and all creative iterative changes from a time, schedule and budget perspective.
· In tandem with the Digital Production Manager, helps determine show crewing and scheduling.
· Manages day-to-day operations of the show within the facility, including watching over the DPM, coordinators and members of the Production Staff.
· Manages the overall timely information flow within the show and between the show and facility.
· Works in tandem with the VFX, CG and Compositing Supervisors to foster the partnership between the creative and production arms of the Production Supervision crew.

Requirements:

· A four year university degree
· 5 Years experience on major feature films
· Experience on a large (500+ shots) multi-vendor production
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Advanced Excel skills
· Shotgun, or other production management software experience, not required, but definitely preferred.
· Outsource experience not required, but definitely preferred.

VFX Editor – ScanlineVFX (Vancouver)

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The VFX Editor incorporates all required versions from pre-vizilation through to final composites of visual effects shots into the current cuts of live action sequences. Also has the ability to create a functioning environment where the Visual Effects Supervisor\leads, and artist can evaluate any version of any shot in the current sequences for aesthetic and technical direction.

Requirements and Desired skills:

– Maintain sequence(s) edit and inserting visual effect shots into the editing timeline
– Ensure the production database (using Shotgun) is maintained with shot counts and lineup
– Ensure that shots cut into the sequence are correct in terms of counts and lineup
– Preparing sequence edits for client approval when required
– Organize and run the dailies session
– Aiding in any pipeline/development issues that surround outsource
– At least 2-3 years experience working in a Film Editorial Department
– Demonstrate proficiency in editing using Avid or Final Cut Pro (Avid preferred)
– A firm understanding of the VFX process, workflow and terminology
– Possess an understanding of film and HD video formats, files, frame rates, and resolutions
– File encoding/transcoding experience, exhibiting a sound understanding of video codecs and file formats
– Have basic Photoshop skills
– Compressor
– DVD Studio Pro or Encore
– 2k Playback software such as Framecycler or RV
