Sr. Compositor

Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establishes certain looks or solves particular design or effects challenges for key visual effects shots
Collaborate with other compositors to share knowledge and techniques
Solves technical challenges and recognizes areas for improvement with other compositors work

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Minimum 4+ years live action visual effects compositing experience
Experience with Nuke software only
Should possess a keen eye for color and color matching
Should have strong aptitude for technical workflow challenges such as directory structure, file formats, naming conventions, scripts, automation tools, automated dailies, etc.
Should have strong knowledge of compositing workflow and the compositing application interface
Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask
Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines.
Preferred experience in feature films and realism
Must have the ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned VFX Tasks

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Ability to execute a broad range of VFX tasks including look development, lighting objects, modeling, texturing, animation and rendering
Proficient in 3dsMax
Must be able to work under the guidance of a CG Supervisor or VFX Supervisor to achieve desired level of aesthetic quality and technical accuracy
Proven development skills
Strong sense of compositions, light and color
Develop and produce realistic representations of FX design, i.e. smoke, fire, water, particles, using computer-assisted design (3dsMax) software for feature films or commercials
May adapt existing images or plates
Prepare graphic elements of subjects to be rendered using multimedia software, imagine processing, layout and design software

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

At least 4 years live action visual effects experience
Experience training in multimedia design with an emphasis on Visual Effects
Working knowledge the following software: V-Ray, Thinking Particles and/or Particle Flow
Some working experience and knowledge of shader writing, and lighting
Creative ability and artistic talent, demonstrated by previous work
Possess strong technical skills and ability to learn new software quickly
Experience compositing a plus
Solid knowledge of principles of 3D
Must have the ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned VFX Tasks
Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines

Required Skills and Experience:

Minimum 5 year experience in feature Film
Extensive experience using Photoshop, Nuke and Maya, with a clear understanding of 2.5 Projection techniques
Must understand and be able to effectively communicate and interact with other departments in the pipeline.
Ideal candidate must be able to multitask, be self motivated,and proactive, handling several aspects of developing and working on a environment and sequence level
Must be able to work with Supervisors to effectively break down the sequences and work out best methods to complete all work in a timely manner.
Attention to detail is crucial, continually striving to raise the quality of their work to the highest level.
Open and responsive to guidance and the review of notes from creative and technical leadership while applying that information to achieve the required look

Digital Production Manager

Description

The Digital Production Manager (DPM) reports to the VFX Producer. He/she is responsible for watching over the day-to-day operations of the show within the facility. He/she works with the VFX Producer to define the “broad strokes” deliverable and milestones of the show and with the CG and Compositing Supervisors, and Pipeline Technical Directors to determine specific and detailed milestones in order to support the schedule, budget and technological needs of the show.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In tandem with the VFX Producer, helps determine show crewing and scheduling.
Manages day-to-day operations of the show within the facility, including IO, editorial, and coordination.
In tandem with the VFX Producer, managers the overall timely information flow within the show and between the show and facility.
Works closely with Pipeline as well as the CG and Comp Supervisors and department leads to maximize efficiencies within the production and the facility.
Oversees render queue prioritization and management to ensure efficiencies and adherence to the schedule.

REQUIREMENTS:

A four year university degree
3 Years experience on major feature films, additional commercial or episodic experience a plus.
Experience building facility VFX pipelines.
Interest in and understanding of technological advancements within the industry.
Shotgun or other production management software expertise.
Advance excel experience preferred, but not required.
Outsource experience preferred, but not required.

Under the guidance of the Digital Producer or Digital Production Manager, schedules and tracks progress of tasks for assigned artists or sequences in the production tracking system.
Follows up with artists on a daily basis to ensure task deliveries remain on schedule
Communicates any schedule changes to appropriate artists, Supervisors and Production team as needed
Experience with production tracking software, Shotgun, and asset management
Should have comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Minimum 3 years visual effects production experience preferred
Should have highly developed communication skills to facilitate interdepartmental needs
