Senior 3D Generalist

Current projects in production: Batman vs Superman, Hunger Games Mocking Jay: Part 1, San Andreas, Fast & Furious 7, Pan, and Heart of the Sea.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ability to execute a broad range of VFX tasks including look development, lighting objects, modeling, texturing, animation and rendering
· Experience with 3dsMax software preferred, but will also consider Maya Generalist with a willingness to learn 3dsMax
· Basic understanding of Max Scripting
· Must be able to work under the guidance of a CG Supervisor or VFX Supervisor to achieve desired level of aesthetic quality and technical accuracy
· Proven development skills
· Strong sense of compositions, light and color

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· At least 5 years live action visual effects experience
· Working knowledge the following software: V-Ray, Thinking Particles
· Some working experience and knowledge of shader writing, and lighting
· Possess strong technical skills and ability to learn new software quickly
· Experience compositing a plus
· Solid knowledge of principles of 3D
· Must have the ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned VFX Tasks
· Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines

Senior FX Artist

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ability to execute a broad range of VFX tasks including look development, lighting objects, modeling, texturing, animation and rendering
· Proficient in 3dsMax
· Must be able to work under the guidance of a CG Supervisor or VFX Supervisor to achieve desired level of aesthetic quality and technical accuracy
· Proven development skills
· Strong sense of compositions, light and color
· Develop and produce realistic representations of FX design, i.e. smoke, fire, water, particles, using computer-assisted design (3dsMax) software for feature films or commercials
· May adapt existing images or plates
· Prepare graphic elements of subjects to be rendered using multimedia software, imagine processing, layout and design software

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· At least 4 years live action visual effects experience
· Experience training in multimedia design with an emphasis on Visual Effects
· Working knowledge the following software: V-Ray, Thinking Particles and/or Particle Flow
· Some working experience and knowledge of shader writing, and lighting
· Creative ability and artistic talent, demonstrated by previous work
· Possess strong technical skills and ability to learn new software quickly
· Experience compositing a plus
· Solid knowledge of principles of 3D

Senior Rigger

Current projects in production: Batman vs Superman, Hunger Games Mocking Jay: Part 1, San Andreas, Fast & Furious 7, Pan, and Heart of the Sea.

The Rigger’s primary responsibility would be to create highly versatile rigging systems and animation interfaces.

Responsibilities:

Design, create, test and maintain character and vehicle set ups.
Oversee the characters, vehicles and props rigging through the animation pipeline.
Troubleshoot and wrangle rigging issues for artists within various disciplines.
Work with the modelers to create a model that meets technical needs.
Collaborate with animators to design motion controls.
Develop secondary dynamics systems.
Develop new techniques and processes to solve production challenges.
Build on and support the rigging pipeline for any jobs going through the studio.
Be involved in R&D and tool building to improve and add to character rigging pipeline.
Write utility scripts and programs to streamline the rigging set-up process.
Work with production management to prioritize tasks
Keep CG Supervisor and/or leads and management informed of progress, changes and other critical issues

Requirements:

In depth knowledge of 3D Studio Max
Preferably 3+ years experience using 3D Studio Max in a professional production environment.
Experience rigging complex character/vehicle set-ups.
Experience writing scripts and automating rigging processes.
Maintain consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work.
Experience with secondary animation systems (including cloth/hair simulation) is preferred.
A Good eye for anatomical detail and a firm understanding of the processes and requirements of both modeling and animation.
Strong technical understanding of 3D computer graphics in general and good problem solving skills.
Ability to document and clearly explain rigging systems and processes to other team members.
The ability to support themselves and to work under their own initiative.
Good communication skills, along with a strong team orientation.

2D Pipeline Developer

The position of 2D Pipeline Developer is available immediately.
Current projects in production: Batman vs Superman, Hunger Games Mocking Jay: Part 1, San Andreas, Fast & Furious 7, Pan, and Heart of the Sea.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Works with the Head of Pipeline and Production to architect, develop and maintain new and existing production tools and supporting modules in Nuke, Silhouette, Shotgun and other software used by our facilities, using primarily python.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required

Design, build, and maintain software using a variety of languages, tools, and 3rd-party packages in a team environment
Advanced expertise with Nuke a requirement, specifically with the ability to program new tools and plug-ins for project based needs
3+ years VFX Pipeline experience required
Excellent Python, C++, and TCL knowledge
Experience automating complex processes of scenes that consist of a large number of VFX assets.
Production experience with computer graphics application software: Nuke
Possesses Understanding of Color Science
VFX development production experience with a deep understanding of pipeline based workflows from start to finish including but not limited to production and delivery deadlines.
Excellence in problem solving
Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner.
Ability to handle high stress environments
Must be able to work well with a wide range of personality types

Additional Skills that are a Plus:

Basic knowledge of 3D packages such as 3DS Max and Maya
Linux experience
Qt, PyQt knowledge
Knowledge of relational database design and implementation

Max/Maya Pipeline Developer

The position of a Max/Maya Pipeline Developer is available immediately.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Works with the Head of Technology to architect, develop and maintain new and existing production tools and supporting modules in 3dsmax, Maya, and other software used by our facilities, using primarily maxscript, python and mel.
Responsibilities also include automating the use of Flowline, our proprietary, Academy Award-winning simulation software — connecting it to our asset management system and creating an optimized workflow according to long-term and production-specific needs.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

Design, build, and maintain software using a variety of languages, tools, and 3rd-party packages in a team environment
Advanced expertise with 3Ds Max and/or Maya a requirement, specifically with the ability to program new tools and plug-ins for project based needs
3+ years VFX Pipeline experience required
Excellent Maxscript, Python, C++, and MEL knowledge
Experience automating complex processes of scenes that consist of a large number of VFX assets.
Experience with Motion Capture and other VFX related simulations
Production experience with computer graphics application software: 3Ds Max and/or Maya
VFX development production experience with a deep understanding of pipeline based workflows from start to finish including but not limited to production and delivery deadlines.
Masters degree in Mathematics of related study required
Excellence in problem solving

Sr Layout Artist

The position of Senior Layout Artist is available immediately.
Current projects in production: Batman vs Superman, Hunger Games Mocking Jay: Part 1, San Andreas, Fast & Furious 7, Pan, and Heart of the Sea.

Requirements:

· Great visual storytelling skills & a well grounded understanding the language of the camera
framing, perspective, lenses, coverage, continuity, camera movement, blocking.
· Minimum of 3-5+ years VFX Layout experience required
· Experience with layout is preferred
· Solid animation grounding (preferably CG feature film animation – FX or Character)
· Solid camera animation work (laying out shots, staging, using film cameras or on-set experience)
· A good attitude and ability to smoothly change and adapt with the project
· Background or experience in fine art which shows a thorough understanding of physical motion, weight, balance
· Knowledge of human and animal anatomy as well as life drawing skills desirable
· Ability to debug technical problems and follow up for assistance if required
This is not a junior animator position – a love of film-making is paramount but that doesn’t eclipse core animation skills.
