Senior Modeler (Vancouver)

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Responsible for managing team of modelers and ensuring production schedule deadlines and objectives are met in a timely and efficient manner
· Execute poly modeling, brush sculpting, and detail high resolution digital doubles with costume for feature film projects; service and maintain geometry
· Use technical know-how, artistic aptitude and knowledge of animation to create models that meet quality standards set by the studio and our feature film clients
· Work with production team to make sure each model is designed and developed to project specifications and is performance ready

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· CG experience constructing polygon character models and UV mapping skills
· Experience in creating blend shapes and a familiarity with character rigging
· Expertise in organic poly modeling using Maya, Max, etc.
· Expertise in brush sculpting and detailing using ZBrush or Mudbox
· Good sense of human anatomy and face sculpting
· Basic knowledge of shell scripting tools preferred
· Skill in drawing and sketching desirable
· Feature film experience strongly preferred
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask
· Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines.

Sr. FX Artist  (Vancouver)

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ability to execute a broad range of VFX tasks including look development, lighting objects, modeling, texturing, animation and rendering
· Proficient in 3dsMax
· Must be able to work under the guidance of a CG Supervisor or VFX Supervisor to achieve desired level of aesthetic quality and technical accuracy
· Proven development skills
· Strong sense of compositions, light and color
· Develop and produce realistic representations of FX design, i.e. smoke, fire, water, particles, using computer-assisted design (3dsMax) software for feature films or commercials
· May adapt existing images or plates
· Prepare graphic elements of subjects to be rendered using multimedia software, imagine processing, layout and design software

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· At least 4 years live action visual effects experience
· Experience training in multimedia design with an emphasis on Visual Effects
· Working knowledge the following software: V-Ray, Thinking Particles and/or Particle Flow
· Some working experience and knowledge of shader writing, and lighting
· Creative ability and artistic talent, demonstrated by previous work
· Possess strong technical skills and ability to learn new software quickly
· Experience compositing a plus
· Solid knowledge of principles of 3D
· Must have the ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned VFX Tasks

CG Supervisor – (Vancouver)

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Act as the primary technical leadership on the show level. Hands-on troubleshooting, overall pipeline planning, workflow decisions
· Ensure adequate pre-production and testing of new concepts/techniques prior to production
· Conduct audits and advise Sr. Production staff of pipeline concerns; proactively design effective solutions for potential problems
· Will be trained to work in Flowline, our Academy Award winning, proprietary simulation software
· Design/develop strong, efficient, and flexible CG pipelines for complex projects
· Develop, research, and implement new techniques and methodologies into production pipeline, adding value to VFX produced at Scanline VFX

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· Pro-active problem solver who demonstrates a strong sense of creativity and respect for aesthetics
· Command a broad knowledge of technologies including particle systems, rigging, image manipulation tools, scripting languages and shader systems
· Needs to understand the principal concepts of Voxel simulations and rendering and experience in FX Particle Simulations, Fluid simulations, Rigid Body Simulations
· C++ API experience in Max and /or Maya a plus to communicate efficiently with developers
· History of proactively mentoring and growing Technical Art staff
· Ability to work with a variety of both 2D and 3D software packages
· Scripting abilities with 3ds Max, Python, Perl and MEL
· Strong understanding of Pre-production
· Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask

Compositing Supervisor – (Vancouver)

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Works directly with the VFX Supervisor to determine and advise technical solutions; Directs and supervises 2D artists in the completion of final shots.
· Insure the quality of compositing work is of the highest standards
· Advises production department on compositor assignments and scheduling.
· Collaborates with other department managers on dailies, workflow and pipeline strategies, processes and methodology.
· Responsible for compositing templates and standards, 2D department workflow, organization, and general methodology, shot continuity, grain continuity, and 2D department quality control.
· Will be expected to spot check individual comps of other artists and evaluate quality and efficiency of teams work
· Mentor compositing team
· May also fill the role of Lead Compositor
· Assesses client plates for technical quality issues
· Prior to submission to client, reviews shots for artifacts relating to compositing or color space issues.
· Serves as key technical expert on productions

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· At least 6 years live action visual effects compositing experience, on high profile features
· Possess extremely strong technical and leadership capabilities
· Solid experience in leading and training teams of compositors
· Excellent artistic skills
· Demonstrate the ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
· Has full working knowledge of the technical and artistic aspects of live action and visual effects compositing
· Expert knowledge of Nuke required as well as integration of 3D elements into plates
· Shake, After Effects, Digital Fusion all a big plus
· Experience in 3dsMax a plus
· Should be able to balance artistic, technical, and scheduling demands
· Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask
