Sr. Level Designer

Job Description

Sledgehammer Games is looking for talented Level Designers to create cutting edge level designs for our Call of Duty title. We’re looking for top talent with strong experience in level design for AAA titles. If you’re interested in jumping in and working on a new project with some of the most talented developers in the industry, apply today!

Responsibilities:

Plan, build, and revise interesting layouts for gameplay.
Design and own systems/mechanics from concept to completion.
Create and iterate on the second to second experiences.
Implement gameplay using proprietary level editor and scripting language.
Research the game’s subject matter.
Collaborate with the Design, Art, and Engineering teams to create and refine gameplay mechanics, combat encounters, and cinematic sequences.
Prioritize well and meet deadlines, communicate progress with the Lead Level Designer well and frequently.

Qualifications:

Serious passion for Shooters, Console or PC.
Demonstrable experience creating gameplay in a 3D environment.
Strong creative and technical design skills.
Ability to conceptualize and communicate an engaging gameplay experience and the technical ability to carry out your vision.
Programming/scripting experience in C/C++, LUA, or other languages.
Experience in Radiant, UnrealEd, Hammer, or other first person shooter level editors.
5+ years professional design experience.
Self-motivated with the highest level of attention to detail.
Works well in a team environment.
Strong communication skills.
Takes and understands direction and feedback well, meets deadlines and handles multiple tasks.
Nice to haves:
Experience with 3d art packages such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Softimage|XSI.

Senior VFX Artist

Job Description

Sledgehammer Games, located in Foster City, CA., is seeking a talented and passionate VFX Artist to join our high-caliber team. This position will play a key role in the creative design, asset management, and technical implementation of visual effects and design.
To earn this spot, you have experience delivering high-quality VFX art, fierce art skills in composition and modeling, an aptitude for critical thinking and analysis, boundless creativity, extensive knowledge of FPS gameplay/landscape, and a deep passion for playing videogames.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Creating stunning visuals effects for the FPS genre using proprietary real time particle systems.
High standards of artist skill in creating texture assets for effects.
A critical eye and appreciation of cinematics when placing effects.
Finding and dealing with technical issues using performance metric tools.
Creatively solving technical issues that arise.
Working with Level Designers and Team Leads to create FX for stunning environments and compelling moments.

Requirements:

At least 2 to 3 years of next-gen visual effects development on console hardware (Xbox, PS, PC)
Experience with and a good working knowledge of the limitations and expectations of next generation hardware
Excellent working knowledge of Maya and Photoshop
Ability to communicate effectively with both Artists and Programmers
An intimate knowledge of Art skills (e.g. knowledge of composition, color, 3d modeling and painting)
Advanced understanding of how to create textures for games.
Advanced understanding of the limitations of runtime effects and how to get the best results

Nice to haves:

Strong background in modeling, animation and/or traditional art.
High-end rendering of particle effects and fluid dynamics.
Specialty post-production work for game cinematics.
Experience with After Effects.
Experience and comfort with one or more scripting/programming languages.
Secondary education, Bachelors of Fine arts or equivalent.
Ability to assist with other art tasks, including light 2d, 3d, or concept tasks.
Strong understanding of real-time physics system

Associate Cinematics Producer

Job Description

The Associate Producer (AP) is involved in the production of multiple projects and/or a franchise and supports the Producer in managing those projects.
The AP works in all aspects of the production of a game and generally is responsible for taking over whole sections of game production. These sections can be the management of particular work pipelines, such as the art, animation, cinematics, programming, design, scripting, or sound pipelines. This Associate Producer also tracks the schedule of these pipelines, manages assets, identifies weaknesses, bottlenecks, and risks in the schedule, and assists with troubleshooting communication and schedule dependency problems.

This position may manage production testing, internal approvals, licensor approvals, localization, archiving, and other aspects of game production. Regardless of the specific assignment, functions usually encompass scheduling, budgeting, organizing, coordinating & managing issues and personnel.

Experience:

Experience on at least one game project from start to finish.
Minimum of two years of games development experience or production experience on at least 2 main SKU titles, or the equivalent type of responsibility working with software developers, artists, or A/V production.
Must be passionate about games development.
Must be willing to commit and take responsibility for projects under their supervision.
Very organized self-starter willing to assume responsibility.
Must have good communication and organizational skills to work closely with many internal and external groups.
Must have excellent task-tracking organization.
Build pipeline experience preferred (build scripts, tools development, etc.).
QA management experience preferred.

Education:

College degree highly preferred.
Professional or advanced degree a bonus.
