We are looking for experienced and highly motivated Contract Environment Artists to join our team and work on our next generation PS4 project.
This is a great opportunity for you to work in our central London Studio in the heart of the creative area of Soho, joining our team of experienced artists and working with us to deliver our next-generation environments.

The Environment Art Contractor role involves:

– Creating high-quality 3D environment assets, texturing, and lighting when required to schedule times.
– Testing and proactively troubleshoot areas that are not working in the game and help fix them.
– Implement feedback from Lead and senior review to hit technical & quality benchmarks, respect the game design & flow, maintain consistency and deliver on the project vision.
– Able to work through tasks with support/supervision from more senior team members when required.
– Help break-down work & derive task durations for scheduling.
– Support the documentation of procedures and pipelines as required.
– Keep up to date with new techniques for environment asset creation, industry news sources, and current technical and quality benchmarks.
– Contribute to peer review of the environment work and give constructive critique on the game as a whole.
– Ability to brief, review & integrate outsource work.
– Ability to communicate status and issues with work to relevant leads and supervisors.

Knowledge & Skills:

The successful candidate should have good level, demonstrable skills, knowledge & experience in the following areas.
– Adept at modelling, shading, texturing in any relevant 3D packages (Maya preferred).
– Adept with high-detail sculpting packages (Z-brush preferred) & the baking-down to in-game process
– Adept with 2d painting / drawing packages (Photoshop preferred)
– Excellent artistic skills with good understanding of form, composition, colour and lighting.
– Technical understanding of digital art pipelines with solid knowledge of the technical aspects of level building, and have constructed levels from start to completion.
– Awareness of current & upcoming game titles & technology.
– Eagerness and ability to learn new software tools and technologies.
– Creative nature with strong problem solving skills.
– Articulate with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Job Responsibility, the role involves:

– Creating environment and prop assets to a high level of skill and ability within a predefined art style
– Hit established technical or quality benchmarks without supervision for all environment work
– Able to take ownership of distinct areas & work through complex areas of work with little to no supervision
– Proactive in being aware of industry knowledge and highlighting examples of technical and quality benchmarks in current environment asset creation
– Ability to independently plan, brief, review & integrate outsource environment and prop work
– Contributes to ideas for development of the environment department, projects and team
– Able to identify personal growth and be proactive in following a self-development plan
– Mentorship to junior environment team members
– Proactive in driving internal communication and inspiration within the environment team

Knowledge & Skills:

The successful candidate should have high level, demonstrable skills, knowledge & experience in the following areas.
– Very high level of modeling, texturing, and UV mapping skills including high detail modeling techniques in Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs) with an attention to modeling relevant detail when creating environment assets
– Strong understanding of the principles of form, composition, color and lighting.
– Ability to independently plan, brief, review & integrate outsource work.
– Strong creative and technical problem solving skills.
– The ability to meet deadlines and to work to a technical and time budget for assets.
– Strong time management abilities, able to self-direct and maintain a sustainable predictable art delivery process.
– Proactive in being aware of industry knowledge and the competitive market.
– Ability to highlight examples of inspirational work that pushes technical and quality benchmarks
– Able to take direction and feedback from the team Supervisors and Directors.
– Proactive and self-motivated team player who works well in a collaborative environment.
– Excellent communication skills – artistic, verbal, and written.
– Flexibility & the ability to learn new skills over time.
