Job Description If your looking to get your claws in to next gen AAA development then your hunt is over ! It’s a real exciting time for us here at Splash Damage, we are about to engage in a very well known and highly popular AAA title with next gen technology and we’re looking to recruit multiple disciplines to fill our ranks. We are looking for a skilled environment artist with a strong understanding of sculpting and materials to work with our internal team as an Environment Artist. The ideal candidate has prior experience in game development and a solid understanding of Unreal 3 and physically based rendering. The candidate must be passionate about game development and desire to collaborate closely with environment artists and level designers. This candidate is expected to work closely with the Art Director and Lead Artists to bring the best out of the environments within our games. Responsibilities Work within the Environment Art team to create and maintain in-game environments Maintain a balance between visual quality and performance requirements for real-time game application Create new model assets, textures and materials based off concepts and reference Assist with in-game lighting Work with the Art Director and Lead Artists to keep artistic style & mood consistent with defined visual style for the game Participate in R&D of new techniques and implement into production pipeline Essential Skills and Experience Skilled in game art asset creation – high-poly 3D hard surface modeling & organic sculpting, low-poly 3D modeling, 2D texture creation and real-time material authoring In-depth knowledge of 3D modeling packages such as Maya or 3D Studio Max Strong experience of 2D texturing and material creation software such as Photoshop, Crazybump, Substance etc. Experience with Unreal Engine 3 or similar game engine Good knowledge and use of lighting techniques in the video game or VFX industries At least 3 years of experience in game development A strong collaborator and team player Clear verbal and written communication in English Desirable Skills and Experience Strong traditional art skills or photography Good understanding of physically based rendering In-depth knowledge of light-mapping techniques for pre-baked lighting Experience working with art outsourcers and outsourcing workflows This role also includes the following benefits: – Contributory Private Pension Scheme – BUPA Private Healthcare – BUPA Dental Cover – Health Club and Spa Membership – Flexible Working Hours Application We review every application which is sent to us and due to the amount we receive this can often cause a delay in our feedback response.
