The Role

As a Lead Technical Artist, you will be responsible for managing a project’s Technical Art team. You will lead the team in planning and implement solutions to support all aspects of development. You will set great examples and help mentor more junior Technical Artists in order to maintain a consistently high standard of support across all disciplines within the studio.
You will represent Splash Damage’s Art Team on all issues related to art production, and work closely with all
other teams in assisting with the technical implementation and management of in-house and outsourced assets.
You should have a pragmatic and practical approach to working with technology, with experience working to
technical limits and ensuring the Art team adheres to these targets. During day-to-day work, you would be
handling a diverse range of work including workflow processes, tools, optimization, planning, documentation and
bug-fixing.
Drive planning and organisation of game, editor and standalone tools features
Support the development team technically and artistically
Prototype, develop and improve art pipelines
Assist the programming team with implementing art-related tools and features

Required Skills & Experience

Great communication and people-management skills
Strong problem-solving, can-do attitude
Extensive experience in Autodesk 3dsmax and/or Autodesk Maya
Knowledge of one or more script languages: Maxscript, Python, JavaScript
Experience working on AAA PC or console games

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Unreal 3, UDK or Unreal 4 experience
Strong digital art skills (modelling, texturing, lighting)
Knowledge of programming languages such as C++ or C#
Experience with outsourcing

As Lead Artist, you will take ownership of the aesthetics and workflows, and lead the team in creating standout visuals for a first-in-class game.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

5-10 years of experience as an artist with multiple shipped titles displayed in a strong, relevant, digital portfolio
Past experience as a Senior or Lead Artist in the games industry
Strong communicator who is self-motivated and proactive
Proven team leadership abilities
Expert knowledge of game development workflows, processes and tools

The Role

As Splash Damage’s Lead Environment Artist, you will:

Lead and motivate a team of creative artists
Be part of the core team and play a key role during the initial development phase
Work alongside the Lead Artist to develop the visual style and define the quality bar for the game
Research, develop and maintain technical pipelines, tools and workflows, aided by our technical artists
Create, implement, and maintain a library of 3D assets, textures, and materials whilst ensuring they meet the visual, technical, and design requirements
Build worlds and bring them to life by populating them with assets and lights
Maintain a great level of communication within your team, with the project’s producer and with other Leads
Assist with project planning, escalating issues when needed

Essential Skills and Experience

5 to 10 years of experience as a Senior or Lead Environment Artist with shipped titles
Strong portfolio, demonstrating experience at creating environment art and showcasing your art skills in general
Experience leading a team
Proficiency with a 3D modelling software (Maya preferred), ZBrush, and Photoshop
In-depth knowledge of game engines and game development in general
Experience building large environments
Solid understanding of PBR workflows
High level of autonomy and initiative
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Passion for games and game development

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience with Unreal Engine, especially UE4
Experience in production of procedural textures
Experience with different types of buildings, terrain and vegetation

Senior Environment Artist

We are looking for a talent senior environment artist with a mastery of sculpting, texturing, asset modularity and level creation, to join our Dirty Bomb team, and work with us on one of the most popular upcoming free to play shooters on Steam. The ideal candidate has 5 years’ experience in game development and a solid understanding of Unreal Engine.
The candidate must be passionate about game development and desire to collaborate closely with the other environment artists and level designers.
This candidate is expected to work closely with the Art Director and Lead Artists to bring the best out of the environments within our games.

Responsibilities

Work within the Environment Art team to create and maintain in-game environments
Maintain a balance between visual quality and performance requirements for real-time game application
Create new model assets, textures and materials based off concepts and reference
Work with the Art Director and Lead Artists to keep artistic style & mood consistent with defined visual style for the game
Participate in R&D of new techniques and implement into production pipeline
Manage and mentor a small team under the guidance of our Lead Artist
Raise the artistic and technical qualities of the team

Essential Skills and Experience

Highly skilled in game art asset creation – high-poly 3D hard surface modeling & organic sculpting, low-poly 3D modeling, 2D texture creation and real-time material authoring
In-depth knowledge of 3D modelling packages such as Maya, 3D Studio Max, Z-brush and Mudbox
Strong experience of 2D texturing and material creation software such as Photoshop, Crazybump, Substance etc.
Experience with Unreal Engine 3 or similar game engine
Creativity and great eye for composition and color
Great artistic and technical standards

Senior Character Artist

It’s a real exciting time for us here at Splash Damage. With Dirty Bomb nearing the end of it’s very successful Open Beta period, we’re looking for Senior Character Artist bolster the ranks of mercenaries and their arsenal, expanding the world of Dirty Bomb further establishing it as the leading Free to Play FPS experience.
As Splash Damage’s Senior Character Artist, you will work closely with the Art Director/Lead and the Game Design Lead and be responsible for creating, establishing and maintaining high quality characters for our project.
Working with the art team to maintain a consistent quality for a range of assets
Model detailed high poly models, efficient low poly versions and create textures
Highly experienced working with multiple texturing workflows for current (PBR) and previous generations, capable of creating well defined and readable realistic materials.
Able to accurately follow common goals putting the team first, whilst self-motivated and demonstrating initiative.

Essential Skills and Experience

Highly experienced and proficient with 3D Studio MAX or Maya, Zbrush (and/or Mudbox) and Photoshop
Strong 3d modeling (both organic and hard surface) and texturing skills
Strong knowledge and understanding of human, creature anatomy and mechanics
Strong knowledge of mechanical construction and functionality (gear and weapons)
Experience of character pipelines and efficient memory management of UVs, textures and vertices
Substantial examples of current and past work demonstrating a strong understanding of form, silhouette, shape, texture, color and lighting

We are looking for a talented Concept Artist to help us develop a game in a well-known and popular AAA franchise. You will be tasked with developing ideas from the initial concept stages to final production illustrations, working closely with the art and design teams. You’ll help flesh out and create levels, spaces and worlds, then fill them with unique characters and interesting props.

Create high quality photo-realistic production concepts.
Iterate on ideas using quick sketches and thumbnails.
Work with the art director and art team to create high quality and consistent visuals.
Work with the design team to solve problems where art and design meet.

Essential Skills and Experience

Excellent understanding and use of colour and light.
Strong sense of design and composition.
A good eye for realistic detail and scale.
Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
Good time-management skills and ability to work closely to deadlines.

The Role

As Splash Damage’s Environment Artist, you will be responsible for furnishing the game world with props, objects and life. From production of assets for key scenes to normal mapped textures for use by Level Designers, you will have a varied and challenging role in our game’s development.

Create and maintain 3D prop and modular assets
Create and maintain texture library
Work with the Art team to maintain consistency through the game world
Work with the Design team to ensure gameflow is optimal around assets

Essential Skills and Experience

Demonstrable experience at creating Environment Art either commercially or on a completed mod with multiple releases
Experience in photo realistic texture creation including diffuse, specular and bump maps
A great eye for detail and a natural flair for composition and colour
Strong traditional art skills, positive attitude and enthusiasm towards game development
Good understating of 3D modelling packages such as : Maya, 3D Studio Max, Z-brush and Mudbox
Good understating of game engines like : Unreal and Unity.
Strong modelling skills : Low-polys, Uvs and Hi-poly sculpts.
