Senior Scheduler

The Mill is looking for a Senior Scheduler to join our LA Studio.

The Senior Scheduler is responsible for scheduling the jobs provided by the in-house producers and various external clients when requested. Their responsibility is to work closely with the Producers, Executive Producers and Head of Production in order to maximize the resources of the company and ensure that the job is scheduled in a timely manner and with enough time to effectively complete all work as per the producers notes and instruction. By working with Production and Heads of Department, they are accountable for the securing the appropriate talent to facilitate the efficient workflow to satisfy client requirements. Their role also involves artist development, but ensuring that key creative talent is nurtured internally through project allocation and team selection.


Working within a team to schedule the needs of the producer and client
Maximizing revenue by scheduling work between the flame, smoke and Telecine suites effectively. Balance freelance needs as well.
Chasing unconfirmed pencils in a timely manner to allow old bookings to fall away and new business to be scheduled appropriately.
Reading and checking quotes according to the suite time booked and keeping the boards up to date with any changes to either the quote or work flow.
Highlighting if a clash of schedules arises and working with colleagues and producers to find a successful solution while maximizing revenue.
Knowledge of the technical capabilities of particular suites to effectively schedule work projects and advise clients and producers of any new working methods.
Meticulous attention to detail when entering new information into CETA. Sharing information evenly between your work colleagues to maximize work flow of the scheduling department.
Relaying important information between the Library, MCR and Support to allow projects to reach the desired department quickly.
Creating and updating worksheets for each suite to allow the jobs to be tracked and operators to know where and what they will be doing on a daily basis
Highlighting any issues to your manager quickly which may affect work flow and or hinder the effective allocation of resources for that day.
A responsibility to report and monitor extreme working hours of Operation and along with the Creative Resources Manager to allocate appropriate rest time or days in lieu.
Manage Artist vacation and time off to ensure creative teams are efficiently deployed and allocated
Secure/Confirm freelancers on as needed basis.
Run weekly scheduling meetings – one of which is a status update for MD, COO, EPs, & HOP and one of which is for the production team to assess team needs on a

Required skills, knowledge and experience:


– At least 2 years experience in a production and/or agency environment
– Strong project planning skills
– Capacity to manage a busy workload with high productivity
– Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
– Professional and assertive personality is a must
– Familiarity working with and using scheduling software
– Responsive and flexible to ever changing needs and environment

Creative Resources Manager

The Mill is looking for a Creative Resources Manager to join our LA studio.

This position oversees creative resources for the 2D department. Excellent communication skill is required as the Creative Resources Manager is responsible for mentoring their team and fostering strong relationships with artists along with being their advocates, 2D board, Creative Directors, production, engineering, and operational departments.
The Creative Resources Manager should also have an excellent understanding of The Mill’s work and creative history, strong organizational, tracking and planning skills and a commitment to providing our clients an unrivaled experience.
The Creative Resources Manager should not only be responsible for the safeguarding and development of our artist’s talents/careers, but also show continuous improvement in working with all departments, especially Production and Engineering, in order to optimize operations efficiency.


• Work closely with CG and Design schedulers to ensure that Creative Resources are acting as a single cohesive unit.
• Work conjunctively with the 3D CRM to ensure unilateral decision-making is taking place and to optimize scheduling as a whole.
• Engage in early bidding and planning with producers to identify talent needs, scheduling and strategies.
• Works with scheduling teams in Chicago, New York and London.
• Work with artists, leads, producers and senior schedulers to ensure jobs are on track and efficient whilst continuously measuring bid resources against budgets.
• Intimate understanding of capacity, internal resources as well as an ability to flag challenges and opportunities and problem solve.
• Guarantee excellent client service from all members of the team to maximize repeat business.
• Maintains an accurate Freelance & Rental forecast.
• Ensure Freelance Artists are utilized appropriately – on the right projects, at the right price, with attention paid to controlling cost whilst maintaining quality.
• Provide support for artists by monitoring working hours, artist satisfaction and managing holiday requests and DOILs.
• Manage DOILs and holidays while ensuring smooth running of the department and facility
• Pro-active liaison with all HODs to ensure technology and resources (artists, machines, suites) are being optimized to the fullest.
• Pro-active Liaison with Talent/HR on talent recruitment, freelance payroll, etc.
• Represent 2D Creative Resources in any high level conversations with Production.
• Schedule large jobs that require intricate planning or big picture foresight. Work with producers and schedulers to ensure the right talent is on the right job.
• Develop Creative Resources protocol and best practices.
• Maintain a structure for multiple schedulers to work together in the same area.
• Problem solve autonomously and escalate when necessary.
• Work alongside Sr. EP to understand, maintain and develop director, client and artist relationships.

Required skills, knowledge and experience:

• 3 – 5 years creative resources management experience
• Production and/or agency experience preferred
• Excellent project planning and scoping skills
• Ability to manage, develop and retain talent
• Capacity to manage a busy workload with high productivity
• Experience working with and using scheduling software
• Responsive and flexible to ever changing needs and environment
