Job Description
To work in collaboration with the senior creative team members to help produce visually engaging high-end CG, stereoscopic content. To ensure that the finished product reflects a unified conceptual approach to the project and is consistent with the highest standard production values.

Responsibilities:

Work with the Director to fulfill and support his or her vision for the film
Partner with the Producer to be sure expectations are kept within budget
To explore and present the visual direction for characters, environments/sets, and props as a means to provide the roadmap for the modeling teams during visual development, pre-production, and production while meeting the highest of quality, aesthetically and technically
Oversee the artistic staff and help cast appropriate talent within the department to ensure artistic goals are met
Assist with the creation of concept art, character designs, visual development, background and animation reference, and technical construction guides
Produce a Color Script for the movie
Lead the Look Development team in defining 3D surface materials for all characters and environments
Work closely with the Lighting and Compositing team to ensure that the lighting, rendering, and compositing of each shot conforms to established art direction standards
Prepare and present artistic material in art direction meetings, concept pitches, department launches, and creative reviews for crew, studio, and executives
To work in adherence to budget and schedule constraints while maintaining the show’s overall look and mood ;
Work with the Director as well as the Marketing Division to create an artistic Style Guide for the production of Nut Job 2 feature film

Position Requirements:

Master’s degree in Fine Art is desired
Six or more years of animation production experience is required, or exceptional artistic skills in 3D
Proven digital and traditional abilities in design, painting, illustration, and animation
Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate ideas clearly to small or large groups
Expert knowledge of Photoshop and working knowledge of Maya is required
Must be able to quickly solve design problems in groups or alone
Must be very strong with graphic design, layout, and color theory
Must set and achieve high creative standards
Must be organized and attentive to deadlines
Must be passionate about the content that ToonBox creates

Storyboard Artist

Job Description
To collaborate with the Director/Lead Story Artist to explore and develop the visual story of THE NUT JOB 2 a 3D feature film production slated for theatrical release.
To present and lead the visual direction of story sequences via contributing to sequence/board production while concurrently overseeing a team of storyboard artists
To streamline or eliminate unnecessary scenes and filming requirements from the productions
To assist with visual exploration, research, and/or creation of design (character/environments/props) as required by the story during visual development/pre-production
To maintain awareness of the broader show needs as they relate to aspects of art and design and related revisions which include, but are not limited, to stereoscopy;
To listen to the director’s verbal description/launch of sequences and shots and realize character action /pacing/mood/cinematography in visual form.
To create new and interesting ideas to capture both the activity and the emotion of the scene.
To self-manage timelines to ensure all sequences are cast, completed and submitted on schedule.
To revise, edit and modify sketches as indicated by the Lead Story Artist.
To implement various computer programs to enhance the visual presentation of ideas for the scene or for effectively capturing the director’s ideas for shots/sequences.
To work in adherence to budget and schedule constraints while maintaining continuity within the story, cinematography, aesthetics, mood.

Required Skills:

Good understanding of layout, composition, sequential drawing and editing.
Ability to visualise perspective and 3-dimensional space.
Work either independently or as part of a team.
Take direction, and also be prepared to make changes to their work.
Good drawing skills, and must be able to follow an established design style, if required.
Good communication and presentation skills are essential.
Depending on the project, basic computer literacy, and familiarity with relevant storyboard software may be required.

Lead Modeler

Job Description
The lead modeler provides modeling direction in the execution of modeling on assigned productions.
Oversees the daily operations of the modeling team on Nut Job 2.
In conjunction with the CG Supervisor or TD department, is responsible for mentoring, managing, developing, training, and evaluating the performance of the modeling team members.
Work with other modelers to develop a “best practices” procedure for Nut Job 2
Attend meetings and maintain communication with all departments.
Implements animation control modeling systems for complex characters, sets and props using Maya
Works with the CG Supervisor, Director and Modeling Department to ensure that all models meet the show’s requirements.
May be required to produce models to meet quota when needed.
Keeps PM, APM, CG Supervisor advised of various issues including staffing, resources, deadlines and issues, etc.
Oversees the artists’ creation of characters, sets, vehicles and props modeled through the animation pipeline, for both low poly and high poly counts.
Ensure the CG characters will employ all current character setup procedures.
Provide and maintain clear communications with departments before and after modeling including animation.
Proven experience of working on more complex set pieces/models using commercial applications such as Maya or Renderman
3+ years CG Modeling experience
Experience with a sculpting application (zBrush/MudBox) a bonus
