CHARACTER MODELER

Trion Worlds is seeking an exceptional and passionate Character Modeler to drive the development of heroes, champions, and monsters for our in-house titles. The successful candidate will work with the Art Director, Lead Environment Artist, and design and engineering teams to create characters that make players say “I want to play that game!”

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and development of characters and creatures for fantasy and science fiction games
Modeling, UV mapping, and texturing of characters in both high polygon and in game resolutions
Handling the technical aspects of character creation such as pipelines, building assets with optimum efficiency, and asset integration
Work with the Art Director to determine and implement character style

REQUIREMENTS

3+ years of game industry experience
Strong proficiency with Maya, Adobe Photoshop, and Zbrush
Solid understanding of computer graphic fundamentals and video game art production pipelines
Solid understanding of art fundamentals such as color theory, light, composition, shade, and form
Portfolio demonstrating strong competency in both high and low polygon character modeling as well as texturing examples
Ability to work in both realistic and stylized character styles
Passion for video games

TERRAIN ARTIST

Trion Worlds is looking for an exceptional and passionate Environment / Terrain Artist to create fantastical settings for RIFT. The successful candidate will work with the Art Director, Lead Environment Artist, and our design and engineering teams to determine the style for future RIFT expansions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with Lead Terrain Artist, designers, programmers, and concept artists to create final art for MMO worlds and objects therein
Assist in creating environment models, UV mapping, lighting, terrain, and shader setups (including applicable texture maps) within a scheduled timeframe
Communicate openly and frequently with designers to achieve a balance of pleasing visuals and compelling gameplay
Create vistas and natural play spaces with in-house terrain editing software
Optimize assets to run at a desirable frame-rate and fit within memory limitations
Carry out the art style specified by the Art Director and Lead Terrain Artist
Express to leads when support is necessary to meet project goals
Ensure files, directories, and other storage means are clean and well-organized
Keep abreast of changes and improvements made to the game engine and production pipeline during development

REQUIREMENTS

Portfolio demonstrating strong competency in the following areas: Terrain-based world building, modeling, texturing, and lighting
Working knowledge of Zbrush, Maya, and Photoshop
Excellent working knowledge of game engines, terrain, and art generation tools
3+ years of industry experience
Excellent comprehension and working knowledge of the environment production pipeline, including understanding memory/poly/texture limitations, efficiency in building collision, creating streaming/loading levels, and character and level lighting
Strong work ethic and attention to detail

PLUSES

Experience with Zbrush or Mudbox
Art-related college degree: BA or BFA

CHARACTER TECHNICAL ARTIST

Trion Worlds is seeking a talented Character Technical Artist to bring life to video game characters by performing various rigging tasks including rig creation, model deformations, simulations, pipeline maintenance, and R&D.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Rig characters, armor parts, sets, and props
Perform quality control over rigged assets to ensure they meet animation requirements
Use Python and MEL to automate processes
Maintain, improve, and expand the existing rigging and animation pipelines
Rig characters across multiple projects, each with its own requirements

REQUIREMENTS

2 years of experience in character rigging or equivalent training
Proficiency with Autodesk Maya, MEL, and Python
Good grasp of mathematical concepts applied to animation and character rigging (algebra, vectors and matrices, etc.)
Good problem solving skills
Passion for well-crafted video games
