CTAC’s niche with the government CIO client community has been in its RAD and delivery of custom-built reporting tools including migration of small databases and custom built applications for Information Collections, Financial Statements, Audit Resolutions, Case Management, Capital Planning, etc. including an award winning system built using Ruby-on-Rails for an Oracle database and utilizing XML/Web Services for multiple agencies. CTAC’s development team enjoys a casual, flexible close-knit working environment fostering technological creativity and successful solutions innovation.
Work will be performed 3 days per week at the client site in Washington, D.C. and 2 days per week at company headquarters in Fairfax, VA
We are looking for an experienced System Administrator. The candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, installation/configuration, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure in a cloud based environment. This will require coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors to deliver projects according to plan.
Interface with clients and manage project work from beginning to end
Modern automated deployment, continuous integration, monitoring and reporting
Design and administers cloud infrastructure and instances including Linux (Redhat & Ubuntu), Windows, Ruby on Rails, Java, MySQL, LDAP, etc. systems; implement and document processes to proactively monitor, troubleshoot, report on, resolve, and escalate issues identified
Carefully follows and employs change control schedules and procedures
Provide advanced technical support to troubleshoot issues and provide resolutions
Lead technical team in debugging complex system, application, and user issues
Oversee routine hardware and software server audits
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field
Masters degree in a related field is preferred
Five years experience as a systems administrator with deep experience in supporting enterprise level IT infrastructure in a cloud environment (Amazon Web Services, Terremark, or equivalent) with direct Linux system administration
Advanced knowledge/understanding of Domain Name Service (DNS), Light Weight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Network File System (NFS), Transmission Control Protocol Information Protocol (TCP/IP) networking, and virtual memory (including swapping and paging)
Firewall and VPN
Content delivery networks and load balancing
Hands on experience with all aspects of open source products
Hands on implementation of automation (Chef, Puppet, New Relic, Splunk)
Experience with enterprise backups
Successful candidate must be able to pass minimum public trust security clearance requirement.
