Job Description

Position Summary

Creates high quality digital graphics and animations, including animations, models, logos, symbols, special effects, etc. for a variety of gaming projects.

Teamwork/Collaboration – must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written (must be able to work with MS Office products) and participate actively in the agile planning process

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop artwork and animation for video-based gaming projects
Develop vector based artwork for gaming signage
Design, conceptualize and storyboard artwork and animation (digital and/or traditional)
Schedule and manage time efficiently – work with agile development leaders to plan work
Assist other artists or projects, mentor if required and perform other duties as needed
Various production duties including (but not limited to):
Game Documentation
Game Prototyping
Tradeshow artwork support
Research and recommend improvements to existing pipelines

Required Skills

Technical Skills Required
Excellent working knowledge in 3 of the 4 Adobe Suite products: Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop and After Effects.
Graphic design capability, understanding of vector and raster graphics required.
Knowledge and professional working experience with 2D graphic design, creating clean readable artwork that can be marketing-ready.
Strong knowledge of 2D graphic design/motion graphics and understanding of animation principles.
Proficiency in FLASH; full understanding of exporting movie types, action scripting, working with libraries, symbols, integration with Adobe Illustrator OR proficiency with After Affects in motion graphics for exporting to various platforms.
Extensive knowledge of 2D animation and/or character rigging techniques.
Ability to sketch or draw (digital or traditional) concepts and ideas, storyboarding, required.
Base understanding of anatomy, color theory and composition required.
Flexibility with various artistic styles required.

High School diploma or equivalent, plus a Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent work experience in 2D/3D animation, graphic design or video games
4-5 years work experience in digital media and design or video games or casino gaming

A reasonable understanding of plugins, shaders and exporting processes required.
Relevant experience with 3D gaming pipelines required.
Working knowledge or experience in UNITY and Z Brush desirable.
Ability to sketch or draw (digital or traditional) concepts and ideas, storyboarding, required.

Engineering Manager

Job Description

The Engineering Manager works with VGT senior management to develop strategic technical goals based on alignment with the Product Roadmap. This position provides departmental budget planning and management, mentors and coaches individual associates, and supports Scrum teams by removing impediments and aiding the Scrum Master to meet schedule and quality, while reducing unplanned distractions.
The Engineering Manager works with VGT senior management to develop strategic technical goals based on alignment with the Product Roadmap. This position provides departmental budget planning and management, mentors and coaches individual associates, and supports Scrum teams by removing impediments and aiding the Scrum Master to meet schedule and quality, while reducing unplanned distractions. Leads recruitment and hiring of new Scrum team members with active involvement from the existing team members. As well as but not limited to:
Fosters a collaborative and self-managing environment through coaching and mentoring of associates.
Provides associate career development on an as needed basis.
Plans training and skill development for associates.
Provides performance evaluations for associates.
Removes impediments which Scrum teams are not able to resolve on their own.
Supports Scrum Masters to protect teams from distractions.
Collaborates with VGT management and Product Owners to anticipate new tools or skills needed by teams.
Develops and manages annual budget for department.
Ensure disciplined engineering practices are followed by the team members for high quality product releases
Stays up to date with industry and company technologies and products.
Sets departmental technical vision and goals and ensures these goals are in strategic alignment with the product roadmap.
Initiate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external development organizations in a Scrum environment.

Required Skills

Experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.
Strong hands-on experience followed by managing systems/software development teams using Windows Embedded, C++, C#/.NET or Java.
Strong knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design, design patterns and UML modeling
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and networking programming interfaces
In-depth knowledge of Windows internals and messaging, and multi-threading techniques.
Ability to coach and mentor team members.
Experience developing and managing budgets for a group of 15-20 engineers.
Collaborate with the Product Management to ensure the technical vision aligns with the product vision.
Ability to quickly understand current technology and regulatory requirements of the casino gaming industry
Ability to anticipate new skill and tool needs based on the product and technical roadmaps.

Desirable Skills:

Experience in managing systems/software development in a distributed architecture using Web-services, Windows Server technologies, and relational databases (MS SQL Server).
Hands-on experience with RTOS, driver development and architecture/design skills
Unity 3D or similar game development platform experience
Required Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering or equivalent work experience in related field.
Casino gaming industry experience preferred.
6+ years of Technical Development experience
2 years of experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.
5+ years of management/leadership experience in a technical environment
