Our Vancouver, BC location is currently seeking 2D Compositors for our upcoming season beginning August.
The Compositor works with and collaborates with the 2D Leads to create and complete shots as assigned.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Must be proficient in Nuke
Working knowledge of Maya
A minimum of 3 years live action visual effects compositing experience.
Must present an up-to-date demo reel demonstrating compositing skills
Knowledge of projection, matte painting integration, CG integration, EXR integration, rig removal
Excellent understanding of 3D multi-pass rendering techniques and colour space concepts
Expert eye for colour and composition
Ability to take artistic direction
Works well with tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized
Problem solving capabilities with a “solution-driven” attitude
Strong attention to detail and follow through
Experience in fast pace environment

Our Vancouver location is currently seeking a Lighting Artist for a high volume, episodic project. This is a project based hire beginning August until May 2018.
The Lighting Artist works under the Lighting Lead and CG Lead, and in conjunction with other team members, to create photo realistic lighting for multiple digital elements to match plates, mood boards and concept where required.

Responsibilities:

Photo realistic lighting of CG characters, organic, & structural environments, props etc.
Work within the colour & lighting pipeline.
Ensure downstream pipeline needs are considered & optimized for rendering.
Work with other team members to address internal and external notes.
Work within assigned hours and deadlines.
Keep up to date with internal tools, software and techniques.
Share knowledge and techniques with other team members.
Assist in overall team communication and contribute to positive work environment.

Qualifications:

Proficient in Maya and VRay.
Working knowledge of Nuke.
Thorough understanding of CG lighting principles.
Experience with full CG environments.
Experience matching digital lighting with practical photography/live action plates.
Experience with lighting digital assets using HDRI.

Our Vancouver location is currently seeking a Lead Lighting Artist for a high volume, episodic project. This is a project based hire beginning mid-July until May 2018.
The Lead Lighting Artist works under the CG Lead and Project Supervisors, and in conjunction with other Leads, to implement multiple types of lighting scenes.

Responsibilities:

Lead lighting and rendering team in the creation of photo-real CG characters, organic, and structural environments.
Create and maintain lights rigs and HDRIs for a variety of shots and sequences
Ability to delegate tasks as well as work on-the-box
Manage render scenes and the quality control of lighting passes. Work closely with 2D Leads to ensure all renders are delivered in a consistent manner.
Monitor progress of all lighting and rendering tasks for the project and provide CG leads regular updates.
Provide slap-comps of render elements to get feedback from supervisors.
Attend dailies sessions.
Lead a team of up to 5 artists at one time.
Mentor artists.

Qualifications:

4 years of lighting experience within film and/or television (live action)
Thorough understanding of Linear Colour Theory and middle grey lighting principles.
Excellent Maya, VRay skills
Working knowledge of Nuke.
Thorough understanding of CG lighting principles and look development
Experience with full CG environments
MEL and/or Python scripting skills an asset
Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail and follow through
Positive attitude, hard worker
Experience leading and mentoring others
Up-to-date comprehensive reel showcasing latest work.

CG Look Development Artist

Our Vancouver location is currently seeking a CG Look Development Artist for a high volume, episodic project. This is a project based hire beginning July until May 2018.
The Look Dev Artist works under the CG Lead, and in conjunction with the Project VFX Supervisors, to create photo realistic sets to client’s concepts.

Responsibilities:

Build clean geometry over-top of photogrammetry.
Light environments, props & other 3D assets to production requirements.
Work within the colour & lighting pipeline.
Ensure downstream pipeline needs are considered & optimized for rendering.
Work with CG team to address internal and client notes.
Work with 2D Look Dev Artist to standardize mattes required for sets.
Work within budgeted hours to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
Keep up to date with internal techniques, tools & software.
Share knowledge and techniques with other team members.
Assist in overall team communication and contribute to positive work environment.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of Modeling, Lighting, Look Dev experience within film and/or TV.
Proficient in Maya and VRay.
Working knowledge of Nuke.
Working knowledge of Shotgun.
Experience with Speedtree and Substance Painter a bonus.
Experience in hard surface modeling (architecture, vehicles etc.).
Experience with full CG environments.
Experience in texturing photo realistic tileable textures, hand painted custom maps.
Experience in shading existing templates and from scratch.
Understanding of colour space (linear, SRGB, rec709, log etc.) and how/when to apply.
Experience in additive & subtractive colour theory & when they are used in 3D or comp.
Problem solving skills; proven ability to troubleshoot.
Ability to achieve highest quality possible and taking shots to finish within allotted timeframe.
Proven creative ability to extrapolate from art direction/concept art when required.
Strong attention to detail and follow through.

Our Vancouver location is currently seeking a FX Lead Artist. This is a project based, full time position beginning late July, 2017.

The FX Lead reports to the FX Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design, create and implement high quality photo-real effects including Water, Fire, Smoke, Explosions, Clouds, Debris, Magical
Design, create and implement efficient methods, tools, and workflows
Understand and work within the studio/show structure / pipeline
Work with TDs and Pipeline to improve FX processes
Integrate created elements into scenes with lighting and shading
Document developed technologies.
Coordinate resources and thorough understanding of optimization in order to maximize resource availability and capability
Report regularly to the FX Supervisor for creative approvals, technical or administrative concerns
Follow the creative direction set forth by the production and communicated by the FX/VFX Supervisor
Stays current with latest technologies, methods, and workflows.
Mentor artists.
Provide feedback to your team as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years with prior Lead experience in Film/Television
Strong knowledge of and proven ability to use Houdini and Maya to develop high quality photo-real dynamic effects.
Good understanding of renders such as Mantra, VRay, RenderMan, Arnold
Some past experience with Mantra a big plus
Experience with rigid body dynamics and particle systems
Emphasis on destruction a plus
Adaptable to change of direction during production and in tight deadlines
Strong technical knowledge for problem solving, verbal communication and organizational skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines in order to deliver on time and on budget
Knowledge of coding/scripting in current production languages Ie: Python, VEX, Hscript, C++, and Mel
Strong understanding of rendering and shading techniques and procedures
Understanding of breakout layers for compositing and ability to slap comp FX passes
Excellent communication and organizational skills

Rigging Supervisor

We are currently seeking a Rigging Supervisor for our Vancouver studio. This is a key position that will supervise the process of rigging of all assets through the pipeline; from concept to final renders. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Character/Concept, TD, and Animation pooled departments as well as show Supervisors, to ensure quality and efficiency through to project delivery. This is a 1 year, full time position with potential to be full time staff for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the technical developments needed to execute the work of the rigging department
Collaborates with multiple department Supervisors including the Look Development Supervisor, Animation Supervisor, TD Supervisor and show specific VFX Supervisors to find the most appropriate solution to produce desired CG character performances
Work closely in partnership with the Department Coordinator to distribute work to the rigging team according to production schedules, ensuring that timelines and quality are met
Responsible for approving all assets as it relates to rigging
Particular focus on improving the overall quality and efficiency of creatures/characters
Responsible for multiple characters and projects simultaneously
On-the-box duties as required
Administrative duties including performance management of team, production meetings, dailies etc.

Qualifications:

Expert hands-on experience of rigging complex characters & creatures showcased by comprehensive reel.
Past lead or supervisory role within Rigging department
Experience with implementation of muscle systems
Experience in MAYA based pipeline
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with particular focus on inter-departmental collaboration.
Must be able to work within a fast paced environment
Passion for high quality facial animation
