VFX Supervisor

Our Vancouver location is currently seeking a VFX Supervisor for a variety of upcoming projects.
The VFX Supervisor works under the Creative Director, and with our on-set Supervisors, to drive client’s creative vision forward and to completion.

Responsibilities:

Communicate client direction to in house department supervisors and leads.
Work with team on Look Development of VFX sequences.
Manage performance and morale of in house artists.
Provide artistic supervision throughout production process.
Approve shots in conjunction with Creative Director.
Work closely with Producers and Coordinators to establish and manage the project teams and budgets.
Follow all studio policies and procedures.
Keep up to date with internal techniques, tools & software.
Share knowledge and techniques with other team members.
Assist in overall team communication and contribute to positive work environment.
Attend dailies as required.
Attend interviews and take part in recruitment when required.
Manage team performance evaluations in conjunction with HR requirements.
Attend management related meetings.
Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in MAYA, VRAY, & NUKE.
Working knowledge of Shotgun.
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a studio VFX Supervisor within live action.
Past on-set experience as a VFX Supervisor is an asset.
Experience delivering on an episodic schedule.
Senior level experience in script breakdown and bidding.
proven ability to manage clients and project hours.
Must be willing to work in variety of projects.
Strong attention to detail and follow through.
Senior level ability to quickly assess needs & establish methodology in conjunction with budgeted hours.
Past experience managing team of (minimum) 5 artists.
Excellent communication skills in English; both written and verbal.
Ability to work within a fast-paced team environment.
Contribute to a positive work environment.
Able to receive constructive criticism.
Positive attitude and flexible schedule.
Must showcase an up-to-date demo reel and resume demonstrating listed skills.

Senior 3D Generalist (Lighting)

The Senior Lighting Artist works under the Lighting Lead and/or CG Lead, and in conjunction with other team members, to create photo realistic lighting for multiple digital elements to match live action plates, mood boards and concept where required.

Responsibilities:

Create photo realistic lighting of CG characters, organic, & structural environments, props etc.
Work within the colour & lighting pipeline.
Ensure downstream pipeline needs are considered & optimized for rendering.
Work with other team members to address internal and external notes.
Work within assigned hours and deadlines.
Keep up to date with internal tools, software and techniques.
Share knowledge and techniques with other team members.
Assist in overall team communication and contribute to positive work environment.
Mentor junior artists.

Qualifications:

Minimum 8 years’ experience within live action VFX in film and television in Lighting specific role
Expert in Maya and VRay.
Understanding of Nuke.
Senior level understanding of CG lighting principles.
Senior level experience with full CG environments.
Senior level experience matching digital lighting with practical photography/live action plates.
Experience with lighting digital assets using HDRI.
Senior level knowledge of colour space and how/when to apply.
Senior level ability to utilize creative lighting along with technical applications to add visual interest.
Ability to create layout of lighting for use in virtual and set extensions.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal.
Strong attention to detail and follow through.
Positive attitude.
Open to receiving constructive feedback.
Experience working in a high pace environment.
Must showcase lighting and VFX experience with up-to-date reel.

Character FX Artist

Our Vancouver studios is looking for a Character FX Artist to join our team in order to work on multiple projects that includes television, streamed series and films. This is a project based, full time postion.

The CFX Artist is experienced in all areas of animation and has held previous positions within an FX or Character FX team. The CFX Artist will work closely with the project supervisors as well as the Rigging Supervisor and Animation Supervisor with respect to best artistic and technical approach associated with each character & creature.

Responsibilities:

Set up and adjust hair grooms and cloth simulations using Yeti and Maya nCloth
Complete character FX work on a shot per shot basis
Check for and fix penetration and intersection problems
Check for and fix continuity issues
Ensure that all shot assets are cached and shaded for lighting
Assist in Identify, and correcting, any problems with cached geometry
Ensure that all shot assets can be cached and put into the lighting pipeline

Qualifications:

3 yrs. minimum relevant experience in a VFX, live action studio (TV and/or Features)
Working experience in Vray, Maya, Yeti & nCloth
knowledge of rigging
Experience with hair, fur and dynamics
Ability to light in Vray and take CFX to final
Good understanding for physically based simulation
Knowledge of Marvelous Designer as asset
Knowledge of MEL, Python and C++ an asset
Must be a collaborative team player and problem solver
Must be meticulous and organized with asset management
Must be able to clearly communicate technical and artistic ideas
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and collaboratively when required
mentor artists.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
Must showcase up-to-date reel demonstrating listed & relevant skills.
