Kung Fu Panda 3 Shot Progression by Frank Abney
Frank Abney – Here are a few shots I animated for “Kung Fu Panda 3”. Although they weren’t the longest shots, or heaviest on the acting side, that I did for the film- I had the most fun animating these. I think it’s the awkward nature of Po, that I was drawn to in the first shot. I love how he thinks he knows what he’s talking about, but is uncertain about everything at the same time.
You’ll notice that the dialogue for Shifu changed a bit, from layout to animation, as well as prop usage. This is common as newer takes from the actors are done to get a better read, based on the director’s vision. The prop usage changed because of continuity early in the sequence, and finding a simple solution.
