The OceanMaker Shortfilm
After the seas have disappeared, a courageous female pilot fights against vicious sky pirates for control of the last remaining source of water: the clouds.
After the success of his first short film “Pigeon: Impossible,” director Lucas Martell wanted to do something different: “We defied a lot of animation conventions with OceanMaker. Rather than a broad comedy, the film is a poignant action-drama that touches on human and environmental issues. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic world, but instead of a bleak tale the story is ultimately about hope. Even the design of the main character goes against just about everything you’ve seen in animation: her ethnic blend of African and Persian features is refreshing, and she’s a strong female warrior, not the airbrushed battle-vixen you’d find in most hollywood films.”
